Metro Exodus - Enhanced Edition

Cant wait, I have exodus but only played through the first couple levels on my 2080ti, this should be good for a first full playthrough.

Same here! Bought it on Steam sale recently, ahead of the enhanced drop. Played a bit but wanted to wait to play the rest. I really liked it so far, and was having far more fun than in 2033 / last light.

Exodus is definitely the strongest but the whole good and bad ending mechanic was really poor. I didn’t want to play stealth and have a no kill mode to get the good ending when everything around me only has one purpose which is to kill me.

My strong suggestion would be to just play how you like it and YouTube the good ending. There isn’t much between the endings but there is a whole lot of non fun for playing stealth/no kill.

Seconded. Besides, the "bad" ending is more Russian.... ;)

From what i remember the game is actually quite lenient on allowing you to kill enemies and still get the good ending. There's only a handful of prerequisites you needed. Some side quests to free imprisoned NPCs, and on the forest level with the tribe you're not supposed to harm them. But i killed wave after wave of hostile bandits and got the good ending.

This video outlines the details well.

I know what is the good ending and how you need to do stealth on 2/3 open world levels to get it. However, without knowing this mechanic in advance and spoiling the game for yourself you have to be extremely lucky to get the good ending. Similar to the nonsense Cyberpunk pulled where only one dialog option done in a certain way got you the secret ending.

For people who haven’t played it, it makes sense to play the game like they want rather than stealth the game in hopes of getting the good ending.

Consider yourself the lucky one who got the good ending probably because you would’ve been playing stealth to begin with.

If I had to be critical, during the DF showcase I couldn't help but notice 2 things that bother me. Both minor and one even DF noted.

1) The new DOF is bleh.
2) I'm not liking how the game now blows out high-lights like it 2004 and they just discovered HDRR lighting techniques . Hope that can be adjusted, or just doesn't happen with an HDR display.

But that's being fairly nitpicky, because  it looks pretty awesome.

Actually, this is an interesting point. I wonder what brightness value they choose as the brightest SDR one.

I don't know man, I really did not stealth much in the game. Most encounters around enemies I did at first try to get the drop on them by sneaking around and doing non-lethal takedowns, but a lot of times I would screw up and alert the whole area of enemies and turned into a fire fight.

The thing with the morality system in this game is there's certain enemies you are meant not to kill as much. Like I said, the tribe in the forest level that lived there since they were children, and I think the religious people at the church in the first open world level is another you aren't meant to slaughter. But for pretty much all the other levels with standard bandit enemies you can kill them as much as you like. Also completing the side quests go towards the morality system, like freeing prisoners or collecting the items for the kid on the train for example.

I actually had no idea about the good or bad endings and just played the game the way that made sense to me and I got the "good" ending. I don't know how you play games, maybe you just like to mindlessly kill everything that moves? Hey you do you man, however you enjoy it I'm not judging. But my point is you don't have to be a total pacifist in this game to achieve the good ending.

I hope it's adjustable. Not a huge fan of the technique as often instead of feeling realistic, it feels like a camera with poor dynamic range.

When checking out the upcoming Enhanced DLC lighting some of those best locations could be far from chapter saves. The chapter saves in the main menu are only at the start of each chapter, and you also get the one quicksave. So to avoid having to replay through from a chapter start to a particular location far away I made a whole lot of custom checkpoint saves.

And I copy & paste the checkpoint save I want into the game saves directory. Then I start the game and select "Continue" in the main menu to load the checkpoint save. Have to do that procedure again to change the checkpoint save. Which is a bit of a hassle but a lot faster to get to a location far from a chapter save.

It's mainly for easy access to see the Enhanced or original effects at whatever checkpoint is desired. Some may prefer to redo the gameplay on the way to those locations and that's cool. And sometimes I'll do that and see each location anyway. But I love to skip around too. These are the folder names where I keep a copy of the checkpoints which include checkpoints close to and far from each chapter start.

I didn't upload them to the internet. Compressed all those saves are a 215MB 7z file for starters. And I don't want anyone getting concerned if anything gets messed up on their pc although I don't expect that to happen. And I got most of them from the net anyway about a year ago, lots of sites out there to download ME saves that players made at various locations in each map in the game.

I have had Exodus installed on my PC since release, haven’t touched it. Looks like I’ll be uninstalling it and installing the enhanced edition. It’s like a shift change.
