"Unable to Start TV"

"Unable to Start TV"

I just got an AIW 9800PRo for christmas, and it has given me lots of problems installing. I finally got it to run(for the most part). Whenever I try to watch TV it gives me the following error: " The TV Failed to Initalize the Video. Check the Windows Device Manager to ensure that the correct video driver has been installed and is working properly before attempting to restart the TV."

Any ideas?

I have formatted 6 times just to get the card to install, and now, I can't use the Tuner.

Thanks in Advance
-Cow

Oh yeah. I just installed the Cats 3.10 drivers if this might effect the tuner

reinstall the WDM, it happens to the best of us. Also check to make sure there are no ! in device manager or hardware manager especially on the crossbars.

Still a no-go.

Anyone else care to try?

Hi there,
what resolution are you running? I almost went crazy trying to run a TV Wonder VE on a Compaq Evo D500. Turns out that my resolution was too high and I was getting the same error message. I was running 1280X1024 for my 17"LCD. As soon as I dropped to 1024X768, the TV app worked fine.

let us know if it does the trick for you

nick

Nope, I run 1024x768. Never would of thought of that tho. ANyway, I think i'll need to remove the card and all ATi software, and do a clean-install. Any second Oponions?

This is important info , YES but a new thread was not needed and this should have been added to the existing thread which is part of the sticky that everyone should read before posting in this forum.

Lots of fragmented info or a multitude of random stickies do not help people find solutions to there problems .

This thread has been merged.

Well... putting this bugfix for the 'unable to start TV' into a Thread called 'conexc.dll - FIX FOUND! + MMC "debug" mode' is a little bit weird... the conexc.dll doesn't have to do anything with this (but the MMC debug mode). Perhaps u should also edit the threadtitle :)

Thankyou

I will be when I can get back into the edit thread mode when then the server allows access again.

AND

Using the debug mode is the most helpful tool in finding the possible problems with the MMC Tv app which is the main part of the thread header.!!!

Well that fixed my problem too!!! I had reinstalled MMC 8.2 like three times and used the ATI unistall util twice but with no luck.

I had uninstalled Nero Vision, but evidently the uninstaller isn't quite perfect. There was still a one key reference to the Nero Audio Encoder. I deleted this key in the registry and now everything works great.

Thanks a bunch!!

How do you prevent the logs from opening/displaying?

I would like to have the logs created but don't need them being displayed each time I start an MMC app.

Thanks

I've encountered this problem twice now. Once under Win2k, and I could not solve it for the life of me. I tried everything listed here and more and came up empty. Since that installation of Win2k was a couple years old, I started fresh with WinXP. I encountered the problem again today after messing around with some old DVD player files and fixed it by resorting to a system restore point (after trying a complete uninstall/reinstall of the ATI drivers/MMC)

Thank goodness for system restore points, I was sure not about to start fresh again (the ATI card would've gone out the window first.)

Hey guys, i installed my tv wonder VE and it crashes every time i try to start the tv. It gives me a codexc.dll error. I downloaded and installed all the latest drivers from ati. I put in the debug mode and this is what came up. I wish i knew what it was trying to tell me, anyone know whats wrong? thanks for any help.

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

This only happens if I try to install a Catalyst driver greater than 3.8.

Really sick of this - 3.8 is getting more and more unstable.

I want my TV back!!!!
