MMC "debug" mode AND HELPFUL MMC BUG FIXES ; TV START UP PROBLEMS

Hi, thanks to this thread I am close to solving this issue (conexc.dll).

My tv-live.txt log file says (at the end):

[06:28:44] Found Filter: DV Audio -- PAL
[06:28:44] Loading Filter: WMAudio Encoder DMO
[06:28:44] Loading Filter: WM Speech Encoder DMO
[06:28:45] Loading Filter: Indeo® audio software
[06:28:45] Loading Filter: Nero Audio Encoder

I assume that it is the Nero Audio Encoder based on earlier postings. I cannot find the dang thing. I have textt searched the c: drive for NERO. I have searched for Nero in the registry and found no NERO AUDIO ENCODER. I have used RegCleaner for OLE and orphan files. Nothing. Drive Cleaner has nothing for Nero.

Can someone help me out here?? Thanks,

Lar

ATIMMC COMEXE.DLL ERROR

ATIMMC COMEXE.DLL ERROR

I think I have a similar issue. I am trying to start TV 7.1 from ATI Media Center 7.1. I get a ATIMMC error referencing COMEXE.DLL. I am running a Rage 128 card and All In Wonder 128 PCI software on a old computer with a Pentium MMX chip. I have DirectX8.a software, having replaced the 9.0. The 9.0 DXDIAG indicated my AGP Texture Acceleration was not available. With 8.a DXDIAG does not run at all. I dont understand all that is going on in this discussion, nor do I know if it applies to me. But if it does, I would appreciate someone walking me through a fix.

MMC 8.8 hangs on startup

MMC 8.8 hangs on startup

If I reboot my computer, MMC 8.8 works fine. But if it sits idle long enough for
the screen to blank and harddrive to spin down, then MMC 8.8 will not start.
I have Cat 4.2 installed, DX9, and all the latest support files (DAO, etc.).
I did a clean install of all of these.

When I enable the debug bits in the registry, I see the following lines
in the TV-Live.txt file:

The file ErrorLog.txt only has the following:

I'm using a AIW Radeon, on a sis-735 based motherboard with a Duron 900MHz.
I also have a SBLive installed.

Previous versions of MMC worked better then this, only hanging once in a while.
I currently cannot install MMC 8.9 because of an install error.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

After formatting I installed the Cat 4.3 and MMC 8.9 stuff, only to find that I get this error too. I've tried cleaning my drivers to no avail... Device manager shows no problems. Here's my log:

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I decided to waste some time again this afternoon trying to get the TV Player to work in my default setup. I know that it CAN work on my system since I have it working in a second XP boot partition I configured with only MMC installed and none of my other apps. Other TV players using the ATI WDM drivers do work in the default partition where MMC fails.

I've previously tried all the manual and software-assisted uninstall/reinstall procedures decribed int his thread and others, with no effect. Here's my log which reports a problem loading the "WDM VBI Splitter", which, as far as I've been able to determine is a sub-componet of one of the ATI WDM drivers. Anyone see this before and/or have additional ideas (other than a complete re-install) to get past this problem?

So I learnt one fun thing about MMC in the process, there is a way to get it to show you some debug info (sorry ATI if this was "hidden stuff")

Create the following:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\ErrorLog]
"Min"="0"
"Max"="1000"
"Window"="500"
"File"="C:\\logme.txt"

I DONT KNOW if min, max, and window are appropriate values, but this will make MMC, upon startup, open debug/log windows you can look at for info...
Am I doing this debug wrong in my registry? Here's what I have (exported):

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\ErrorLog]
"Min"=dword:00000000
"Max"=dword:000003e8
"Window"=dword:000001f4
"File"="g:\\\\temp\\\\atilog.txt"

It didn't make any file. Thank you in advance.

Check your key, it must be:
"[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ATI Technologies\Multimedia\ErrorLog]"

Why so many backslashes in the filename? Your window entry is also wrong.

If you create exact the same key like described, then you will get an error loggin windows.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! OK, I will try again tonight. I hope I can figure out why my MMC's recorder doesn't record during scheduled times. Thanks. :)

Thanks that worked. Now, I just need to wait for the problem to come back. I think the recorder is teasing me. I can't reproduce it. LOL!

:D :D :D :D
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
I had MMC TV behaving 3 different ways for 3 different users. It turns out I had corrupted ring buffer files. I delete the old ones and lo' and behold it works just fine for all users now.

MMC 8.9
I get the "TV failed to initialize" error also, on my HP laptop when trying to launch my TV app and view the video via Easyshare.
The PC Check says that DirectX9 is not installed and that the capture driver is not installed. However I have installed DirectX9, Wimdows Media Encoder, and the WDM Capture drivers MANY times successfulyy.
So...here is my log file. What's going on? What does this mess mean?

I just reinstalled my system, cause this was a total F*CK UP, It runs perfectly now,

Have a VIA based motherboard, an Audigy souncard and a ATI AIW 9800. The worst combination but when setup properly it just works.

I use the KX project drivers now as I do not do gaming and I think the music capabilities of these sound drivers are far more better then the original heavy SB onez

These might be helpfull for others having problems:

http://www.sanx.org/tipShow.asp?articleRef=218 (showing all former installed hardware), These remain in the registry but dont show in the hardware list. Whit the suggested key, you can see them again and safely remove them

http://www.free-codecs.com/DirectShow_Filter_Manager_download.htm this will give you insight in the registry hives of all your direcx filters and devices, perfectly for repairing faulty links and combinations

:)

I have atimmc.exe error after installing pinnacle studio 9. This is my log. Can anyone tell me where is the problem and how to correct it? Thanks...

Interesting how SO many (dare I say ALL?) people have this error:

ResMngr::LoadObject CoCreate Error: ClassNotReg CLSID: {B6761AC7-0F95-4184-8CEE-0E8495BEBD13}

In fact if you do a search on the GUID you get nothing but references (log dumps like the ones above) from people who have this error. What exactly is that class supposed to be? Hmmm...

On the bright side there do not seem to be toooo many references to the error:

CPrivatePip: Startup: Failed to Verify TV Wonder Vendor

Perhaps it's just a new problem that hasn't popped up a lot yet. What's interesting is that I don't have a TV Wonder I've got an AIW, so maybe that's why MMC can't verify the vendor. Duh.

I just get an error - "Fatal Error AtiServ Logmanager Failed to startup!" I've set up the registry key exactly and even reinstalled MMC. Using a registry monitor seems to show MMC finding everything it needs!

Any thoughts? I'm using MMC 7.6, Catalyst 4.10, DirectX 9c, Windows ME with a Sapphire 9200 VIVO.

Cheers,
PJay
