I wish Nintendo would make a console version of the switch, I have that its a portable first. It never leaves the dock, I don't care for its portability.

Since its basically a Shield Tablet, they could just take the Shield TV and make it a Switch TV for people who don't need a portable console...

It is possible they could release a "performance dock" which would bypass the switch graphics and utilize an external GPU for home only purposes.

Of course the switch would have to have been setup for external GPU bypass capability to begin with for that to even work.

drawback to that is you'd have to already own a switch.....

The switch is already portable, Nintendo themselves said they were going to converge both markets into one a long time ago.

My guess is they will make a switch with a lower node, that runs cooler, uses less power and a much longer battery life due to the node, and a XL screen that has a lot less bezel.

However at the moment I don't think they will do antrim except maybe a more kiddy proof switch, or switch limited editions like a pikachu yellow switch with yellow Joycon etc.

I question the LE switches (whole console) due to the cost. The limited edition Joycons however I see being a reality as they're already out there.

Two games already released would have been a plum opportunity to do a LE console BotW and Mario Odyssey. Mario had a box with red joy-cons. BotW disappointingly didn't have any LE stuff. Speculation about the next Zelda game however is out there about new/LE hardware.

I for one am looking forward to Metroid Prime 4, which would also be a good chance for a LE console/joy cons given there was a LE 3ds for Return of Samus. Yes I do see this blows my entire idea about a LE Switch out of the water too.

Nintendo always create multiple versions of their handheld.

In 2-3 years time I can see a Switch plus being released.

Also a cheaper more child proof switch.

Well my cheaper more child proof switch (aka only handheld) prediciton wasn't that far off. :bleh:

Also 35million since March.

Just thought I'd bump to be a ass. :p

Nothing on the more powerful end though. Although I'm not sure they need it with the type of games Nintendo does.

They need it on the 3rd party end. Plus I said 2-3 years, only been one year I have still time to be a total ass. :P

Thought i'd bump this because on the heels of the eventual PS5 and Xbox series X releases, Nintendo has just announced the Switch continues to print money and is around 52million units sold now, surpassing the SNES.

That means the 11 people who guessed the 50-75million sell range are now the correct guessers :p

I was not one of those 11.....

Switch has now reached 55.7 million units sold....
Nintendo has got yet another money printing machine.....and its got some shortages going on right now too.....
turning out to be huge success

I wonder how its gonna deal with Xbox X and PS5.......Wasnt a powerhouse to begin with but its now dropped WAY off in terms of power compared to those two.

edit: i just realized my last post in this isnt making the numbers all that impressive..only 3 mill gain since then lol.

Luckily I don't think the Switch needs to compete with the big boys... ever. I can see 2 reasons they might release new hardware though:
  1. Switch reaches market saturation, and they need folks to upgrade. Basically the same problem that iphone has.
  2. Nintendo wishes to expand into lower-priced markets, especially kids, and multiple units per household.
The second one is particularly compelling to me, especially after what I saw with the 2ds. Pushing into the sub-$100 range meant that many families bought a 2ds for each kid in the house. We have 5 total btw... I have a 3ds xl, a New 3ds XL, and 3x 2ds. We occasionally break them out for epic MarioKart games. When we visit family in the summer, nearly every cousin has a 2ds, and we often have multiple multiplayer games happening simultaneously.

Once I took my 5 3ds/2ds collection to work to play with coworkers (scheduled as a team-building event). I had several coworkers who brought their own 3ds, and we played 8 player Mario Kart. I had scheduled 1 hour, but nearly everyone stayed for 2, we were having such a great time.

Cheap hardware has the capability of reaching such a level of ubiquity, and you start to achieve network effects that open up new opportunities for gameplay.

There should be a huge spike in numbers coming up assuming the pandemic dies down enough for people to get one, and in combination with the fact that this year is Mario's 35th anniversary and the rumored mario remaster/remakes:

-Mario 3d world port
-Mario Sunshine
-Galaxy 1 and 2 remasters
-Mario 64
-others?

Theres also that Paper Mario Origami King that was quietly announced a week ago (one piece of the rumor mill that came true) which hopefully is less sticker star/color splash and more thousand year door.

I'd be down for the 3d world port (never got the wii u version), and paper mario if its a good one.
