NVIDIA Next Generation ‘Ampere’ 7nm

I expect terrible availability, but yeah, launch in March with Cyberpunk.

TBH it all depends on the price. According to that article NV will be going back to their usual schedule of releasing a 3070/3080 and keeping the Ti and Titan back. So if they charge $700 for 3070 and $800 for 3080 we're back in the realms of over pricing again.

The only thing that might make NV blink is the launch of the new Xbox and PS5.If they really do 4K/60 and ray tracing for say $400/$450 Ampere is going to struggle big time. I'd buy the new Xbone in a heart beat for $400/$450 and stick with my 5700XT for PC gaming for the next 2-3 years and be a happy chappy.

As Apple are now finding out there is a ceiling on prices above which consumers won't go and NV are pushing that boundary very close. Plus let's not forget Intel are gearing up for a dGPU launch in 2020 and they have money to burn to gain market share. Jensen needs to get his math right with Ampere otherwise NV could see things hit the fan pretty quickly and find its share price tumbling as it has done in the last 12 months. Nvidia are heavily dependent on the gaming sector whereas AMD and Intel are not. Just my 2C's.

again?

we've been in the realms of overpricing for years. lol

I know but the difference now is the new consoles and Intel entering the market. These are two things Nvidia haven't had to face before and it will be interesting to see how they respond.

AMD and Intel if they have anything faster than a 2080 ti it will be around July or even much later

3080 ti will be the same prices or higher
and with Samsung instead of tsmc it maybe only 30% faster

Why would the fab make a difference in speed?

I'm not getting a founder's edition card so I'll wait longer. That'll take my 2080Ti into 18 months plus of service.

I read the first(1h 2020) 7nm nvidia cards will respun 2070 and 2080. Speculation: Minor boost in clocks with new branding at the same price points as respective supers.

I don't expect a 3080Ti ish card until Oct 2020.

Nv may not launch a Ti right away so the 3080 and 3070 may arrive in April and the Ti in October.

AMD haven't had a top end card for some time yet their market share is going up. It's great to have a top tier card but if it costs over $£1,00 consumers are saying GFY for that price.

The majority of gamers are more interested in the price/performance ratio and I include myself in that. When I was researching the 5700XT I was seriously considering the 2080 but when I looked at benchmarks the price/performance ratio was pants and the 2080 Super was worse. I could easily afford the NV cards but I just didn't see the value FOR ME gaming at 1440p.

Hey I get that for some the performance is more important than the price and if that's you I salute you but gaming isn't my biggest hobby and there are lots of people out there who just can't afford the top tier prices. NVidia can only push the price envelope so far before it blows up in their face big time.

I stopped purchasing flagship gpu's because the premiums were getting ridiculous and gaming with over 100 fps for minimums is a chase more-so for diminishing returns than a must have experience, must have game changer. I'm more geared for 60 fps for minimums and heavly experience driven through features and fidelity. Price/performance or sweet spot is also very important to me as well.

Nvidia offers competitve products across all price points and why they have around a 77/78 percent discrete share advantage. However, it looks like amd is slowly garnering traction with integrated solutions.. That worries me for the future of discrete gaming moving forward.
