Oculus Quest games

Any of the Splinter Cell's in VR, that could be awesome . Or the Thief series...

Iron Rebellion is now available for Quest in the App Lab, or pcvr through Steam Early Access. I tried the Quest version, and it's super neat.

The game is still early in development. The mechs feel great to pilot, but there's limited weapon options. There's a lobby that's got all simple placeholder graphics, but includes a course to practice your mobility skills, and a paintball-arena style course to battle opponents. I've also tried a snow-themed level that has more fully realized graphics.

Steam has a free demo, which I intend to try next.

Medal of Honor, comparison between Quest and PCVR versions. Of course it's a sizable graphical downgrade, but still massively impressive. I'm particularly impressed that they've been able to execute well on set-piece moments, like the light house collapse, shown at 7:45:

Not a bad use of 40gb. They say this one runs buttery smooth on Quest 2, although it's cross-play so I'll prolly end up playing the PC version instead. I'm looking forward to trying it, although I promised myself not to buy any more games until I finish Resident Evil 4.

I've seen nothing but complaints about the game running like **** on the oculus quest sub reddit.

Interesting. I wonder what the difference is, as the video reviews I've seen have really praised it's smooth performance.

Lucky's Tale, launched today. Surprise!

I tried it this morning, and geez Quest 2 has just had it's 2016 moment. There's no discernable loss in graphical quality at all... in fact I think many things actually look higher-poly. There's some small art-direction tweaks, and they're using the newer character model for Lucky. I'm sure they're rendering at a bit lower resolution, but it's not really noticeable. Makes me wonder what a Robo Recall could look like, if it were specifically designed for Quest 2.

In terms of VR platformers on Quest, we're still missing Kin. I emailed the devs a couple months back, and they mentioned that a Quest version is on their roadmap, so it's coming.

Now that Quest 2 has over 10 million units sold, it's going to be a no-brainer to make the business case for porting your game to it. I expect we'll see fewer gaps moving forward.

Games that sell OK or not that we'll tend to sell far more on quest.

Kinda like what happened with indie titles on switch in the earlier days.

Finished Lucky's Tale. Great game, really enjoyed it. Get's pretty challenging in the 2nd half.

Started playing In Death: Unchained.

Great gameplay concepts, very polished game-feel. I often have difficulty getting into Rogue-likes (or Rogue-lites), but I'm enjoying this one so far. It's fun and addicting, and I expect to put more time into it.

Very focused on archery. In fact, locomotion is handled through shooting teleportation arrows... system works well, but I do wish there were more locomotion options, including standard joystick teleportation. I also wish there were some melee options, even if it just had a basic sword for close-range combat, but I guess that's not what the game is about.

Graphics look nice, but not outstanding.

So I was thinking...

Does Quest VR stuff belong in PC or console gaming? It doesn't seem like most folks here are very interested. Not sure that people would be any more interested over in console gaming though.

To me, Quest is feeling more and more like a game console. Although Quest discussion probably belongs wherever we have more people who are interested?

I think here is fine.

My Quest 2 doesn't get a lot of regular use, but I'm happy with it nonetheless. Really something for lazy days with lots of free time and energy. Most days (workdays especially), I just want to sit down and use a controller for my gaming time.

Looking to get into those Star Wars Darth Vader episodes - they seem to be very well-received. (That immediately tells you something about how far behind I am on anything VR-related.)

A controller?! this definitely belongs in Console Gaming!

/not at all jealous that exclusives come to the VR equivalent of a cardboard city, while her suburban detached family house Valve Index gathers dust because of things like there being no RE4 VR. Nope. No. :bleh:

It's like there are two gaming industries, one for most games, and one for VR. The latter contains more indie developers, while the former refuses to acknowledge the existence of VR, mostly (apart from the odd project or experiment). There's very little intersection, so you get AAA releases like Dark Souls, and in VR you get a comedy sandbox jaunt where you can wave a sword about a bit.

Finally started Medal of Honor on Quest2. Played through the first couple levels.

Overall I'm really enjoying this game. Gun play is remarkably smooth, for how much stuff is going on and variety of weaponry. Each weapon feels and behaves distinctly differently, in a good way.

Performance is reasonably good. Some of the dialog scenes seem to run at half framerate, but the action feels pretty smooth.

I've heard mixed reviews about the graphics. Actually I think it looks surprisingly good. Character models are detailed and expressive. Interior environments are properly detailed. Texture resolution is good, for a mobile game. I'm installing it on my PC and will try over Virtual Desktop, looking forward to seeing the enhanced PC graphics.

The larger outdoor levels do make some graphical sacrifices, and can look pretty dated, so I understand that complaint. Also, the game doesn't seem to run any anti-aliasing... I think that's the area that could make the biggest improvement. Overall very impressive game though.

---- edit -----

I tried out the PC version. Of course it has better graphics. Also stutters alot on my pc. Much higher resolution makes it alot easier to snipe enemies.

The large outdoor levels are WAAAAAY better on PC. The Quest version in comparison, basically removes ALL foliage, and honestly the levels are janky and don't make much sense until I saw them on PC. It is quite a massive difference, on those levels.

I just bought the bundle. Thanks Seyiji!

I also bought the 2 mystery steam games for $2. Got Soul Reaver 2 and Smoke and Sacrifice. Not sure what Smoke and Sacrifice is, but Soul Reaver's cool.

So it looks like you can't redeem these keys through the oculus app. Instead you have to do it through the website. Go to oculus.com, sign in with your account. Then click on your profile in the upper-right, click on "orders", then click on "redeem code".

The Zero Caliber coupon must be redeemed on the Fanatical website (not oculus). Then you can purchase the game at the discount, then they'll give you a key you can redeem on the oculus website.
