Curious what systems y'all are interested in given what we know about the two competing platforms today. And by "Launch Plans?" I mean if you're planning on picking something up between when they release and the end-of-the-year. If you think you'll be getting both eventually but not in the first few months that's not really notable is it? :bleh2:

(I'm adding a poll to this)

I'm trying to decide if I should go for one or the other first, if I have to choose.

Neither for me for the foreseeable future.

If I did break down, slip up, wake up with a console in my hands and not sure how it got there though :bleh: it would probably be the Xbox.

I'm not aware of any PS5 exclusives that I just have to have, and I'm happy with the PS4, so I would want the newest Xbox, see what they've got going on.

As always, focus less on the actual hardware and go with the console that has more exclusive games you want to play.

I'm probably going to wait it out for a truly must buy exclusive game. I still have not even bought a PS4 or Xbox One. Been happy as can be this gen with the Nintendo Switch and my PC. I have missed out on a handful of interesting exclusives but nothing I lost sleep over. The only one I really was going to finally buy a PS4 for was Death Stranding and thankfully that is getting a PC release. When it comes down to it I am a PC/Nintendo gamer.

Most likely get the PS5 out the gate and hold off on the Xbox, most Xbox games are also on the PC and while it's not always the same playing on the computer, or having to hook up an HDMI cord to the TV, it's better than spending another 500+ bucks. Sony and Nintendo are the only two that generally have exclusives now a days. I'll probably pick up the new Xbox at some time, but it's not a priority. I mean, I haven't booted up my Xbox One in over a month while the PS4 is used almost daily.

If I get either it will most likely be the PS5, since pretty much all games that come to xbox come to PC. I'm in no rush to get either, because I never use the PS4 I have now.

Honestly I think console launches are for suckers. I always wait for a stronger library of games and a price cut.

That being said, I might jump in early this time. Sounds like both consoles will be priced aggressively, plus they'll take advantage of the existing libraries but make 'em sing. I'm really excited about this generation.

Will wait and see how each turns out. Even still, since I already have and game on PC, I see no real reason to get an Xbox Series X since all/most of its exclusives will come to PC anyway. That leaves the PS5. That 3D Audio stuff the PS5 has also has me really intrigued (since I love good audio whether it is in movies or games). Currently game on PC + PS4 Pro and that might end up to be PC + PS5 down the line.

I’ll get both. I figure I’m going to buy them at some point anyway so why miss out on time with them?

I'll get the PS5 for sure, the XBox is useless. My first instinct was yes for launch...but I never buy games at $50-$60 new prices. So I'll likely wait for used games.

(To him)

OverclockN' always gives his opinions in very matter of fact ways.

I guess I could have added "IMO" to it. I just thought it was assumed. :p

For me, an XBox is pointless. I have a high end PC, and XBox has no exclusive games. Anything on XBox, I can just play on that. However, Playstation is obviously known for it's amazing exclusives.

For other people, I can see wanting an XBox if they don't have a PC capable of 4k (if they want to game at that) or if they want to play in a living room on a sofa and don't want to/can't move the PC in there. I get it.

It depends how well good Play Anywhere is on the Xbox, it's been good for first party titles but still lacking on third party titles so while I can use the PC for some of the content there's still a reasonable amount I play on the console.

I did buy a PS4 but never really got on with it aside from Amplitude so it's been a waste of money, I doubt I'll bother with a PS5.

SILENT HILL!!!!
From the sounds of it Sony aren't messing around in regards to exclusives.

But i'll be waiting on a PS5 to be beta tested by others and grab the revised version of the hardware, post the launches initial teething issues, being fully addressed.

Series X is going to be sick with Gamepass.

Yeah, I could play all the first party titles on PC but sometimes it's just not worth the hassle involved.

More than likely a Series X at some point because I still have around 2 years of Gamepass to go through thanks to their $1 upgrade deal. That and nearly all of the people I play with are on Xbox.

PS5 maybe at a later date if the exclusives are good since I will say that the combination of Last of Us, God Of War, Horizon, Uncharted(s) and especially the FF7 remake (plus a few others) have made it worth the money I spent a few years back on the PS4 despite it being my least used console. I've rarely bought a game for it at full price and use the PS Plus to get a bunch of other games to try out. Bloodborne and Shadow of the Colossus are next.

PS5 for me because the girlfriend already promised she will get me one for my birthday. :bleh:

Seriously though, Xbox has literally no exclusives that excites me so no way I am getting that.

Both will be too expensive in the first year but I'll be going with PS5 quite simply because 99% of xbone games will be on PC. If Sony do the same (they won't) then I don't need to get any.
