Both will be too expensive in the first year but I'll be going with PS5 quite simply because 99% of xbone games will be on PC. If Sony do the same (they won't) then I don't need to get any.

Don't be so sure about that.

They have been dabbling with it for a reason.

I say by generation end they'll be releasing on PC day and date.

The only console I've bought at launch was the PS2 and I regretted it; at the beginning it had a pretty abysmal library. I learned to wait until the first price drop.

Hopefully it'll be wireless! Otherwise I don't see much point.

I keep reading rumors that it will... Too bad Sony developed their new lenses (probably) too late to put them in the PSVR 2.

I just hope they'll release new move controllers too.

I'll wait awhile. Besides the PS4 pro still kicks ass and I did load up on games back in Dec/Jan when everything was on sale. Haven't even touched most of them.

If I was to buy or when I do I'd go with the PS5. Exclusives(GOW alone  ) IMO are worth it over better specs.

It's just not the console itself that drops. All the AAA titles end uup being $15-$20 also. So the savings to wait is huge. But yeah, waiting is hard too lol/.

i just sold my ps4pro to upgrade my pc, doubtful ill jump on this gen unless theres some must have games

If I get a €400+ piece of hardware this Christmas, it'll be an updated VR headset (compared to the Rift CV1 I'm borrowing at the moment). Microsoft is fine with me gaming on Windows, so there's no need for an Xbox, and I doubt the PS5 is going to launch with a lot of interesting exclusives (to me).

I usually play some Playstation games at the end of the console's lifecycle. The earliest I got a console, ever, was probably the Xbox 360 in 2007 when Crackdown released. Even that was at least a year and a half into the generation.

Both, unless some news comes out closer to launch that sways me one way or the other.

Neither.. I'll have to wait a few months to see how PS5 and Xbox Series X turned out and see if there are any exclusive game that will for PS5 only that i want to play.

Neither, getting married I no longer have spare cash. Will have to make do with the One and Pro I have now. I know poor me.
I actually play the Switch and my PC more than the other two anyways. O_o

I used to buy everything at launch for years until about 2005-ish when I had so many games that the backlog kept me from buying new systems until they'd been out at least a year or so. Games (most, except Nintendo ones) drop in price so fast it makes sense to wait for everything unless you're one of those people that cannot wait for anything.

That said sometimes certain companies offer such great incentives to trade in your old systems for a new one...I'll see what happens there. I bought an original Xbox One on a great sale at Best Buy and then a few years later EB Games (Gamestop in US I think) offered a new Xbox One S with 3 games, several months of Xbox Live, a $50 restaurant gift card, and some thumb stick things for $99 so I traded in my old Xbox One for that. Later when the One X came out they offered $300 for trading in the One S towards the One X so I did that. If a good offer comes along for the Series X I will get one at launch. The One X is very good though so I'm in no hurry if there isn't a great deal.

I haven't bought a Playstation since the first one and haven't really missed anything. There's a few exclusives I'd like but I'm not buying a new system for them. Every friend I know games on Xbox and I absolutely will not play games with strangers...I find 90% of people online to be immature idiots.

If I had to guess I'd say PS5 will be $449 and Series X $499 at launch. Sony made an expensive controller (I believe) and that will prevent them from cutting prices any more. Microsoft will not allow there to be another $100 price difference this time around and will have the Lockhart system to compete in the lower price bracket.

I do not and will not ever game on PC again because it's stupid expensive and I don't miss all the PC hardware/software issues that can happen when you build your own systems (did that for years).

Their cooling solution is also a big cost factor in the PS5.

I hear you with being done with PC gaming. I was done with it when I bought the Xbox X. Honestly I haven't missed it very much at all.

I'm all in on what Series X has to offer and will be buying it day one.

Yah, I'm pretty confident that the PS5 was originally a 9.2TF machine and when Microsoft announced the Series X they panicked a bit and overclocked the system as much as they could to lessen the gap. They probably couldn't do too much else as I'd imagine they would be committed to their hardware design and a certain form factor. My guess is they may have had to up the quality of their thermal design to accommodate the overclock. How it'll work long term who knows.

Would be funny if Microsoft later came out and upped the clocks on the Series X as they seem to already have a very robust cooling solution and I'm sure there's plenty of overhead to do so.

I just wish there was 3 tiers to consoles...and my ideal Xbox would be to have the GPU at the full 56 cores clocked about 2.1GHz+, 10 core CPU with 8 dedicated to gaming...clocked to 4.3GHz with SMT disabled and 4Ghz with. A full 16GB RAM at full 384-bit bandwidth dedicated to games and 6GB 256-bit for system. Up the capacity of the internal storage to 2TB and double its bandwidth. It would be an expensive system but would be a full balls-to-the-wall design to perhaps entice a few more PC gamers away. It'd still be cheaper than a good gaming PC and smartphones that people buy with no issue

Maybe they should use this design?

PS5, simply because I skipped PS4 with full intention of buying the next gen to go back and play the games I missed (KH3, FF7, Etc).
