Is it any good? I started playing RTX Quake 2 but don't remember what happened next.

Yes. Very slick imho and makes lots of little changes that all make it feel nicer than the original or RTX. Although to be fair I've only play the first 3 or so levels.

Played 1 level. There is no RTX so a bit disappointing. But gonna keep pumping this version to the end as QOL updates are welcome and it plays fine.

It's pretty much exactly what a remaster should be, incredibly faithful to the original, while enhancing it for modern play. So essentially was Nightdive studios thrives at.

nVidia's RTX version got bucks of backlash for much it changed and messed with the look of Q2. So I can understand not going that far.

It's muy bueno, just like the Q1 remaster.

Have they changed the level layouts on some maps or am I crazy, there's an area on the first map that I've never seen before.

They should have left the new/restored lunge attack of the berserker on the cutting board.

I kinda like it. Really caught me off guard the first time. They'll also use it to bridge a gap...

They improved the AI allot actually. Imho it makes the game allot more fun to play. They did release a set of "release notes" that cover all the changes.

The splash damage just makes the lunge annoying IMO, why does it have a wider AOE than an explosion?

I do get why they added it, the berserker was a joke, it just needs to be toned down a little, the range is insane, on some levels it felt like they could lunge across the entire map.

Anyway, finished the OG campaign on nightmare AKA normal difficulty compared to other shootbangs from the same era, had a blast, the new pathfinding is really noticeable and does make the game more fun.

The more I encounter them, the more I agree :D

Somehow I keep getting stuck in the game lol. I am in a room where there is a moving box and I need to get some power cores. I pressed 2 buttons to open paths but not understanding what to do next. How is a game from 20 years ago so complicated lol.

The crossplay is hilarious. I was effortlessly running circles around some console kiddies while chipping away at them with a blaster.

Use that compass thing from your inventory. 25 years ago people would run around in circles until they accidentally stumbled upon the solution, these days you either have a compass or you move on to the next game.

Needs a remake not reskin. What is the constant attraction to the same game but with better blocky textures only? Dont get me wrong I loved the Doom and Quake originals but maximum profit minimum effort ?

Quake 2 was remade, that's Quake 4. I thought it was an average game at best at the time, haven't dared replay it since. I did just finish the Quake 2 Enhanced single player campaign though. :p
