Rage golfers?

Dang, I almost forgot it was Masters weekend.

Anyhow, I used to be super-hardcore. Twenty or so years ago I was a 7-handicap, once birdied four holes in a row, and shot par for an 18-hole round at the local muni. My partner, a 2, and I used to regularly win $ at tourneys.

Anymore I usually just putter around with Wifey. :manches2:

Anyone? From what I understand, the big golf boom of the 90's and aughts, that started even before the Tiger Woods phenomenon, has these days reversed, and younger people aren't taking up the game as much.

Same here, from 2001 to 2004 I golfed about 12 rounds a year.
Also lots of short game practice since it was free at our courses.
Went down to a 12 handicap, except a whole week (4 rounds) where I was par :D

Not long after that, totally changed my life habits and put the clubs away, though I will get back to them someday.

I did impress a lot of people with arrow straight drives because I used the Moe Norman swing (no break in the wrists).

Was a mild winter here and I was able to play about twice a week. Working on driving consistency. No longer looking to hit the big bombs, just fairways.

At my age, the big bombs were not that big anyway.

Wow-- Moe Norman. that's a blast form the past! My mom's boyfriend tried that for awhile because his swing was somewhat similar anyway.

Driving consistency was always my weak spot. If I drove well I broke 80 and vice versa. For a long time I teed off with a 4+ medal/wood. I think the last time I broke 80, at least 10 years ago, I just teed off with my 5-wood, but that was the 6100-yd. muni course in Joplin.

At my peak I hit a 9-iron 150, a 5-iron 200, etc. I need my 5-wood for 200 anymore. :(

The winter here was the worst in a decade; all I've done is living room putting and short-game on one of the local putting greens a couple times. Both those days the wind was blowing 30 kts. so barely worth even going. But you know-- you have to

If I would teach gold, this is what I would teach because it removes so many variables.

[anecdotal]

My HS PE coach taught Mo Norman style golf as part of regular gym class.
One of my brothers stuck with it(rarely breaks 100). He is no Bryson Dechambeau

Myself and other brother base our swings on Hogan's 5 lessons. We are single digit HDCPs.

US Open at Pebble Beach, final round. Brooks Koepka needs to overcome a four-stroke deficit to become the first person to win three times in a row in over a century.

The monsoon season took a break here and I've been able to play some again. Yesterday I had my first birdie of the year and the day before that I almost had a hole in one with a gorgeous 182-yd 4-iron into the wind that scathered 8-ft past the hole. I missed the !!*#@#!! comebacker!

I was looking for a gif of a good golf swing as an example for someone and stumbled onto this . . .

Great swing.
Best WAGGLE in golf history!

Wow Bill I live in the highest water district in the state and my bill isn't that high! Then again I do live in podunk USA.

You also don't live in the western desert, where all the states are grabbing water from whatever sources they can.

I totally get why gold here in Phoenix is a big deal. I get the economics of it, but it the real world it makes no sense. This place is DRY, with a capital D R Y. Unless they're made of dirt and rocks, with cactus traps, then golf courses make no sense here. But yeah, they're all over the place.

Rage golfing. Is that like when you throw your putter at the guy next to you because you missed the hole that was only two feet away...three times?

If so, I'm in.

Just won my first round match in our club championship, 1up. I've never made it out of the first round before so it's kinda a big deal for me.:yahoo:

I bought a set of clubs couple weeks ago and played my first round at the course I've worked grounds maintenance at for 17 years

Its when you aim for the butthole of the rager next to you because he wants manches, and your suckage of golf inadvertently makes you an expert of manches.

I lost to the #1 seed. He was 2 under after 5 and I was down 0-4. I finished the front strong and was only one down at the turn. Ended up losing 3&2. I had fun. As the saying goes, a bad day on the golf course beats a good day at work.:)
