Rage3D v5.0 - what do you want to see?

I would like to see searchable threads. It would make finding what you are looking for in long threads much easier.

My only suggestion, too much change at once can be bad. Don't pull a Windows 8.
vB3 to vB5 is a major change, there is no two ways about that. vB3 is full of security holes, and doesn't have the features and functionality seen in current releases. R3D is beautifully customized, but some of the customizations are what have keep us from being able to keep things properly secured and updated. This is a very needed change. Customizations will follow, but we're going to stay away from the type that inhibit our ability to keep the site updated moving forward.

All of the good suggestions have already been stated.

Now, I love this place but I think that if your aiming big, forums aside you need to put a heck of a lot more emphasis on content, reviews etc, I say this as although there is some great content on here, there is not enough. I of course mean professional content here, not our insane (often inane) ramblings :D

And of course, please keep the forums as a major component ;)

We will be looking at adding more content moving forward. Caveman's most excellent move to working directly for AMD certainly left us with a need in that area, one that we need to fill.

I'm sure it will all work out well, I haven't been following as much as I would of liked but is there a rough eta on this upgrade?

We're in the final stages. It does look like it will be a multi-stage process, with the forums transitioning at a somewhat later date (hopefully not too much of a time gap). Rage3D is VERY customized currently, which makes the transition a bit tricky. We're also likely changing the hardware end, moving away from our own hardware to a hosted config, which should actually speed the transition and improve the overall experience moving forward.

Though I will miss the hamsters.

In regard to the staggered release, that may seem more technical or of issue than it is. Some might remember that Rage3D originally ran on multiple servers, with the forums running separately than the front end. It wasn't until we moved to the current HP G5 DL360 that one server hosted the entire site. Even now, the DB resides on a separate partition.

I would like to see it released...
