Red Dead Redemption 2 (official game thread)

Does this game end. I am now doing epilogue 2 and have been at it for past 3 hours.

The credits come one day soon, was the longest I had to keep playing a game after thinking I was done.

Wow absolutely amazing game. Just finished it. Took 47 hours as per Xbox app. The ending is one of the best I have seen. Holy crap what a game. I am assuming I can now go and do all the side stuff I had missed. I need to change my GOTY.

Best story
Best voice acting
Best direction
Best music
Best gameplay
Best every ****ing thing

Holy crap. I have never played a game like this before.

Just finished it myself, that was simply stunning in every way. Man what an experience, this is what playing video games is supposed to be like.

It is the only game that I am still thinking about. When my horse died I almost wanted to go back 5 hours of gameplay to save him since that was the save I had and auto save ****ed me over. Also he died because of no reason by a gang holding me up and me picking the fight.

Similarly the ending kept me thinking and I couldn’t start game again for a day as I was actually sad. Today I couldn’t stop playing the epilogue and finished it in 6-7 hours. What the hell.

Just to amuse my self I loaded up AC Odyssey right after finishing this game and turned it off ASAP. I am glad I didn’t load up RDR2 before it or that game wouldn’t be played just like I won’t be playing another open world game anytime soon.

What an amazing game. The shootouts were so so satisfying. The set pieces. The fact that you never see a same face repeated throughout the game was just amazing. I may do another run through or start RDR again as I have forgotten most of it.

Some are hilarious. I had a few of the bird scenes and also horse falling off a cliff.

Started Chapter 4....expect every mission started by another member of the gang to pretty much go horribly wrong!

I'm pretty much done with RDR2, except for a few side missions I think, but even those are running out. I'm not so interested in the grindy stuff (hunting, collecting, challenges). I miss the old days of GTA3, where you had unlimited side jobs by way of the taxi, police, ambulance and fire truck vehicles. I would've loved a sort of generated bounty missions. I guess that's what the RDO component is for, eventually?

I have really enjoyed RDR2 for what's there though, it's an achievement in storytelling, world building and technical excellence, and a good game as well.

I just read through this thread after not checking it out for awhile and following KAC's posts of slowly falling in love with the game was awesome.

I just finished the game yesterday. It took me a month to finish it. It's definitely a masterpiece. I hadn't read anything about the game so I went into the game pretty much blind and it didn't disappoint.

My game of the year was either going to be this or God of War and this one is it.

This night be one of the only games that I double dip on if it hits PC. This game in Ultrawide at a smooth 60 would be ridiculous.

So I ****ing hate this game. I think its one of the worse games I have ever played. It does not respect the player at all. Its like if you were an actor and anytime you tried to stray a single moment off script it smacks you in the face and tells you to restart.

It looks beautiful, it has great production with the acting an animation and I am even loving the story but playing it is just ****ing terrible.

The controls are like Rockstar saw all the complaints about The Witcher 3 and thought they could do worse. It feels sluggish and not intuitive at all. The fact that some buttons do one thing and when you expect it to continue doing it, it just changes. There is no consistency with them.

Lets not forget that its an open world with free roam presented from the second you get to valentine but once you are in a mission its more linear than an Uncharted Game. You can't even do combat the way you want. "Oh you want to use that nice pistol you love for this mission? **** you! You will use the carbine and like it." Enemy running away from you at the start of the mission, don't ****ing try to be smart and jump on a horse to catch him... ****ing run instead!

Yeah some could like it but it was not my cup of tea at all.

If you feel that way early on, don't worry: it only gets worse.

Did you get past Chapter 2?

Did you get past Chapter 2?

No because the controls and mission structure pissed me off and if you use the excuse that i need to put another 10+ hours into to get use to it then **** off because that is a bad excuse. I hate reading about how the game gets good after chapter 2 and so on. If that's the case then I was right by saying it's a terrible ****ing game. You shouldn't be forced to sit through **** till the game gets fun...
