RX 580 Out Now

Updated specs. I'd post pics but KAC's link pretty well covers it.
I keep throwing benchies and games at it and still no issues.
GPU Tweak 2 is a little confusing and dang it I guess I'll have to read the manual. :/ Wattman has not been enabled.
The AURA RGB lighting is really cool but I don't have a clear side on my case. Looks great with the cover off. ;)
It also comes with XSplit Gamecaster which I haven't even opened. I'm sure I don't need it though. Relive has not been enabled either.

wow

The only item in stock is the MSI at the staggering price of 399$ ... Seems the mining is reborning on VGA...
On Amazon US the AMD cards RX580 / Rx480 are pretty expensive imo...The price is inflated by something ...
In UK / Europe the situation is similar...

Most cards out of stock and some on pre-order ... wow...
Nice sales for AMD GPU for a gpu that's a just a higher frequecy ...
Nvidia can't beat AMD at mining with ALL their R&D budget ... Same happened with 290 series and now with the "cheap" rx 580 that's basically a faster 290x :)
Freaking ironic ... I think Raja knew something :)

At the same shop the gtx 1060 situation is ... normal ...

Defintely AMD is on the wave ...

AMD make absolutely nothing on the inflated prices. All that extra profit goes to the re-seller who is charging the inflated prices. Also once the mining craze dies down the miners just flood the market with cheap 2nd hand RX580's that massively undercut new ones so AMD gets hit with another whammy. In all honesty the miners are more of a disaster for AMD than a god send.

Have you felt that the 290 mining situation made some disasters for AMD ?...People may be reticent to buy a second hand 290 that stayed 24h in mining...I am not saying it will die in a couple of months but a resistance to buying and second questioning is involved before purchase such card. And now the mining market is reborn it seems that people that had a fleet of 290 may still use them until they die or until their value drop so much so they can't compete with new gen cards anyway...
Computerbase asked some questions at computex...

I don't know about all 5 of my 290s that I used for mining for something like a month straight, but I do know at least one of them is still kicking in my friend's rig.

In answer to your question about mining:

AMD needs to be aware of all markets for their products. If they could sell 1 million Vega cards to miners and only 100,000 to gamers, they should produce 1.1 million cards, not 100,000 (which seems to be their strategy).

I feel the mining market much more volatile than gaming market...AMD may not have predicted a mining market rebirth so they didn't take it in account too much...Maybe that market can't be predicted so the mining-market cycles may apear out of blue and then AMD is striked suddenly ...
If they release a special mining card they may not know how many they will sell...They may not have a confirmation that the market will exists in the 3 -5 years ... Imagine that the a Fury based card was built in 5 years...They know there will be gamers after 5 years but can you know if the mining guys will still be there to buy a special card ?

Its not hard to make a purpose built miner card.

Take a regular PCB, strip all the outputs off of it. Get a cheap but effective heatsink that vents out the rear and call it a day. Sell it for $175 with 4GB or ****, even 2GB of RAM. F@H only uses 200-300MB of VRAM on HUGE work units.

Aparently yes..
Why neither sides (AMD and NVIDIA) didn't do a special card already? The Crypto mining is around for some time..AMD have experienced this on their own when the 290 series became "targeted" by miners...Nvidia didn't care too much for this market otherwise they would have modify their archicture to give higher scores in crypto. We are 2017 and i haven't seen a special mining card from either sides...
If Vega with it's HBM2 will improve the scores over rx 580 then the folks from rich gaming community will have a serious competition for stocks ...
If LordHawkwind or shadow001 or KAC will not buy a Vega then there will be more stock for miners ... :)

Last time amd got into cryptomining for ~6 months keeping the R290 out of the hands of gamers and they lost market share...

They either need to ramp production fast or risk another major loss in the market.

Exactly what the retailers are saying. BUT- AMD is scared. They want to squeeze out as much profit as they can without risking excess inventory.

Sadly they are forgetting something.. Polaris is in the race for at least another year. They have that long to sell out inventory. Either do it fast now, or pay for it later AMD. (increasing production)

Wooho ... exactly what i thought but this i didn't know and it was the missing link in my mind:

" However GPU mining has seen a massive resurgence over the past little while due to the rising popularity of ASIC resistent coins. Chief among which is Etherium which has seen its price more than triple in a matter of months. AMD’s Add-In-Board partners have caught on to this and have already started directly advertising to miners. "

So someone did actualy release speacial asics but some coins became resistant to those ... funny! so all the crowd was back on the AMD shoulders again...This also explains why Fury prices are 800$ in some cases...hahah

If i had 100$ more back last year i could have sold the Fury for a freaking high price on ebay now!

pointing a finger to .... Lordhawkwind  :p

I will let him piece the puzzle himself ... :D

Or distribute a cyrptocurrency mining client exclusively through Steam to pump up those Valve hardware survey numbers... :bleh:

i starting to believe the cryptomining is just excuse for shortage of GPUs

thus gamers will be buy NVIDIA GPUs even more and AMD marketshare drops

next time AMD please develop GPUs just for cryptominers ...

Meanwhile the first guy who gives me 500$ us plus ship can have my xfx gtr be 480 g8 gb lol... Ill survive on the 6950 until vega comes out which hopefully will be with a huge batch of the mining oriented cards so we gamers dont get nailed again and theres enough hw for the miners to splurge on.

I would take that for each of my two fury x's and not run that system till vega

First person who wants my Aorus 580 XTR for $499 plus shipping gets it :3

Also damn if I wasn't so lazy I'd start mining with this card to offset a future Vega purchase..
