Samsung Galaxy S10

It is enough cause I am looking at the Xperia 1 as well, but a 256GB storage and 8GB model would've been a no brainer for me.

I don't think you'll see any benefit with 8gb of RAM. I have the 8GB note 9 and app still gets reloaded despite having 2~3GB free. I think the extra ram is more useful for Dex desktop dock.
You can add microSd storage with the s10e.

I'm still on my Samsung Galaxy S6. Can't believe this phone lasted me this long, and it's still very fast for everything I do. The display isn't even outdated, it's as crisp and sharp for text and images as my wife's S9, even though the S9 technically has a better screen.

I'd be on my note 5 if the battery hadn't gone to crap, and if work wasn't paying for my phone upgrade.
Now Note 9...I don't see myself changing this phone out anytime soon. I mean...screen, water resistance, SD card slot, so much more. I don't really know what else I could want in a phone.

Yup the S6 is still gold, actually had an S8 during a development cycle for a few months, and returned back to the S6 :)

Edit: the S2 is still rocking Cyonogenmod hehe

The S10 is a sexy phone, but not enough of an upgrade from my Note 9. Still loving that one.

Ditto. I paid extra for the 512GB Note 9, upgrading to this would be idiotic for me. Especially since it really offers nothing new I'd use. Still uses UFS 2.1 and the Note 10 is rumored to be getting 3.0 so that would be a bigger performance boost than the S10 gives. From what I've seen the finger print scanner is slower too, I don't miss it being on the front like I thought I would.

So I've had every S phone and note. For people who are holding onto an old but recent galaxy. Samsung is giving 550 towards the new S series. Which is a no brainer as those phones are not worth that second hand at all. to boot you will pay the tax on the lowered amount and you get the buds for free which is a nice plus. I've had the s10+ for a bout a week, I ordered another 2 trading in note 8s I had laying around. So from the 999 they were like 460s each after tax. Hell you can buy a note 8 for 300 refubed in good condition and trade it in.

Now onto the phone. THis mornings update addressed my gripes with the fingerprint scanner. It seems much more reliable than before. My unit had a protector on it outta the box and it seems to be glass. I would summarize my experience so far with the s10+ being, it feels like Samsung made a better iphone without the IOS limitations. Samsung phones are usually pretty smooth out the box but move forward a few months what I call the Samsung expiration date starts to kick in. Ususally, past the 1 yr mark the phone is still okay but its noticeably worse than new. The s10+ for me outta the box had a level of butter that paula deen don't even have. I've been using the xs max and the note 9 since last year and yeah for once I feel like Samsung phone has the butter factor of an iphone. The toned down default without all the saturation is nice as well.

That 550 is only for the S9 and newer iPhones.

My S6 is only worth $150. Not enough an incentive for a $1k phone. I'll keep using the S6 till it dies.

Link? T-Mobile (my carrier) is only saying $250 if found in good condition.

I was a little tempted with the $550 upgrade credit from Samsung direct, but that still leaves $449 for the S10+ 128Gb. After everything I've read, I'm not convinced it's a worthwhile upgrade from my Note 9.

For my S7 looks like the T-Mobile deal is better.

Not sure what number they gave you, but going thru Samsung, I could get $550 trade in on my Note 8, going thru T-Mobile, it is only $155 (Went into their store front and spoke directly with the Manager and Assistant manager, so the amount is the same as what their web page said). Going thru Verizon it was $270, and Best Buy was equal to Samsung's offer. (I was looking into possibly switching to T-Mobile).

Of course, I went the note 5 route thru verizon (my current Carrier) as they would give me $200 for it (all other's it was $150 or less, as I gave my Note 8 to my Girlfriend. (got my S10+ yesterday.. the phone kicks ass).

For those that are wanting the Powerless Power share option (charging other devices) It DOES NOT work if you have a case on the phone. Not a biggie, I really didn't plan on using it, but I still wanted to test it.

It works fine with a case for me. I have a few spigen cases none of them have issues.

I guess I should have said it doesn't work with an Otterbox case, which is what prompted me to research it, where I came across many other's with the same results with their cases. I suspect spigen cases work better because they are much thinner, even their tough armor ones are thin in comparison. (If I remove the rubber layer of the Otterbox Defender, it will work)

Samsung themselves states "The Wireless PowerShare feature may not work depending on the type of accessories or phone cover used"

This all translates to me translates to mean: "it will only work with thin covers, which provide inadequate protection" (of course that is just my opinion) Our family has had poor luck with Spigen and other similar brands, hence why we use otterbox, as others do not protect our phones as well from our experience.

At any rate, Glad to hear that it works for you! :)

Works for me too. Picked my S10 up on Friday which was launch day in UK and had already received my Spigen Tough Armor case. I always buy the Tough Armor and TBH I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever with the three cases I've owned. With the case on it charged my old LG Nexus 4 (still going strong) and later on my Gear 3 frontier watch. I certainly got some funny looks in the golf club when I was charging the watch

Don't know about the US but all European S10's comes per-installed with a plastic screen protector which is pretty good IMHO. I keep putting my finger on the back of the phone to unlock it forgetting it's now on the front screen. I'd say the front screen fingerprint sensor works about 90% of the time. When the always on screen is on you can't see it which is a bind but I suppose I'll get used to it.

Have to say it's a definite step up from my S8 and the screen is excellent. I already had the Android Pie and UI final software on my S8 so that was not a problem. As a beta tester I got it before it's main release and the strange thing was it showed version 1.0 for the one UI in the settings whereas the S10 shows 1.1. Go figure.

The only major PITA is that it arrived with no Galaxy Buds. You basically get a wired set of AKG earphones in the box. As I pre-ordered the first day I thought they would ship with the phone but unfortunately you need to make a claim, upload your receipt and IMEI number and Samsung will contact you within 7 days to validate your claim. FFS I bought it from the Samsung UK shop so I think this is very shoddy and I'm presuming they're doing it so not everyone will be bothered claiming. I'll give them to the wife for her iPhone 8 as I prefer over the ear headphones.

They don't ship the free promotional items with the phone to prevent people from returning the phone and keeping the free items. That is why it usually takes 6 to 8 weeks after receiving the phone to get the promotional items as this is beyond most return windows outside of a warranty return. At least that is how it has been with all the Samsung Phones I have purchased that included promotional items. (Note 3, Note 5, Note 8, Note 9 (for my son), and now the S10+)

Fair enough when you explain it like that. Anyway I submitted my claim and have had confirmation that it has been accepted and will ship within the next 30 days. I actually tried the bundled AKG earphones and they are actually quite good. Will probably still give the Galaxy buds to the wife although she has the wireless iPhone earbuds so it'll be interesting to see which she thinks is best.

With regards to the phone I'm acually using the gestures which I was initially against but it's the only way to get fullscreen. Quite liking it TBH. One strange thing is that although I've enabled rotate screen it doesn't do it like my S8 did which was natively. Now a little icon appears that I have to touch to change the orientation which can be a pain when I want to play a video in landscape. Other than that still super happy with the phone and will most likely keep until the S12 comes out.

Make sure you have auto rotate turned on in the pull down menu (i know you said you had rotate turned on, you might need to just disable and re-enable it), also make sure you don't have it portrait locked. As auto rotation works fine for me. Also, did you update your phone when you recieved it, as there was an update put out on release day to fix various issues, main on being with the fingerprint scanner.

I did update the phone when I got it. Although I've enabled auto rotate in the home screen settings I checked the notification panel as you suggested and it was locked on portrait. Is this a known bug? I also found out that the little icon I was referring to is actually baked in Android 9 so maybe that's causing an issue? Anyways its now on auto rotate cheers NWR.
