System Shock stuff. (System Shock Remake, Kickstarter/Demo Up!)

I'll admit I'm biased, probably the former (great remake nostalgia) If you enjoyed the original System Shock 1 or System Shock 2, I think it's a must play (though some ss1 purists whine about minor gripes). For someone new to the series, I think you'd dig it, but with caution. Part of what I really liked about it was how much it retained the level design (almost maze-like claustrophobic), it really doesn't hold your hand with where to go or how to accomplish things. It's easy to get lost, at times enemy AI is also a bit clunky, so some people may find that frustrating. Still, I'm sure there are newcomers that would find it a fascinating series to dive into.

I also played on Hardest Difficulty (minus the one with the 10 hour timer) with only auto-saves and only resorting to manual before boss fights. Definitely increased the tension. Also adds more importance to finding the recovery chambers.

Are there respawning enemies or if I clear one level it allows me to roam around and do whatever I want?

There are spawning enemies, but once you clear a level it drops significantly. Though there were still a couple rare occasions I ran into some when backtracking (which you have to do quite a bit).

I must admit that I don't like the boss fights because they are too unbalanced compared to the rest of the combat. I get totally overwhelmed by the bosses and I rely my gameplay on ambushing the enemies rather than full on assault. With the bosses, there is no choice. The original SS1 didn't really have any boss fights. The cortex reavers where like normal enemies but with higher hit points.
