The Essential Phone now $499

I am absolutely loving picture in picture with Oreo, especially for Maps and YouTube.

How long after you signed up did it take to have it pushed to you? Or did you sideload?

No oreo for me yet.

I think you have to side load the first time.

I'll check it out - I think it was android authority said it can take up to 24 hrs for the first time to get pushed, and I'm lazy as hell today :p If it's not pushed by tonight I'll sideload.

Shows as $49

Woah weird.

My PH1 might be busted.

With full wifi/carrier bars phone will not call. Says disconnected until reboot.

90% of calls missed this past week due to phone not ringing when called.

Calls that do get answered are heard over speaker phone regardless of setting to earpiece.

Most voicemails from the above missed calls are not accessible due to phone telling me it cannot sync without a connection to a wifi or cellular network, even with full signal.

A reboot fixes everything, but this is all day every day. It sucks, I like this phone.

I also have the BB extended protection plan.....:bleh:

A new SIM is probably the best next step. I have to decide if I'm staying with T-mo though. Their service has been crap for everyone I know for 2-3 months now.

I switched to Cricket a few months back, when I went on vacation out in Big Bend I had next to no service with MetroPCS (Tmo) while my truck had great service most places with AT&T.

Cricket is just about the only viable option here. I checked out Xfinity mobile and won't go that route although I know several folks who say they have excellent service. You can bring your own phone as long as it's an iphone. They don't support bringing an unlocked android device over, but they have no problems selling you one.

I just got an Essential from Sprint for $449, just missed the Amazon deal, but $449 is ok with me. Really dig this phone, had a Note 8, but a little to big and fragile for my work (transit bus mechanic). I watch movies on it when cooking for my clan, man this speaker is LOUD, love it. Got a case from Amazon for $10 that covers the whole phone in a belt holster, just slide it out when needed, you know I have greasy hands.

How many times did you feel like you would drop it before you got the case on it? LoL, it's one slick phone, especially with greasy hands :p

All phones feel like wet bars of soap in my leather hands, this one feels like a motel bar of soap. It went into a case first thing. That Note 8 was also a slippery rascal with no case. I took some pictures yesterday, turned out fine for my aging eyes, when my wifes and 2 sons Note 4's need replacing, seriously considering the Essential, they love the size and storage.

With a decent case it's a damned durable phone. I've dropped mine more than I care to count, no problems whatsoever. I use it with oil hands all the time, while working under a car mainly. It just keeps chugging along.
