Xbx1 or PS4 PRO

Seen an offer at Game where if I trade in an iPad Air 2 16gb I can get the xbx1 for £269 or the PS Pro for £169. My iPad is 128gb so should get a bigger discount. Never owned a console but I have a 4K HDR tv and for those prices I might be interested.

The XBX1 has 4K BR player so is that worth the extra £100? My TV has Netflix and prime apps and I stream 4K content that way. Any comments would be welcomed.

The X is the way to go for multi platform titles, but the pro has more console exclusive games.

So, if you care about the exclusives, buy a playstation, if you want a powerful quiet console for multi platform titles, buy the x.

This 100%. Always keep in mind that Microsoft is releasing almost all new titles on both PC and xbox so if you have a PC, playstation is the way to go.

There are pluses for each, what is the most important to you? Xbox One X is obviously the most powerful at this time but the Pro has the exclusives, If you dont care about the exclusives all that much, go for the X.

I only bought the X1X to play the following games:

Forza Horizon 3 and 4
Halo Master Chef
Forza 7

And upcoming multi plats namely
RDR2
Ass Creed Odyssey
Shadow of Boner Raider

These games can be played on PC but I wanted to play them on big screen with HDR while sitting in my bed. I can also play them on PS4 Pro.

For everything else I will use PS4 Pro. Given you have a PC and the price difference for you PS4 Pro will provide you a much bigger library to indulge in that is exclusive to the platform.

Agreed I don't even have an xbox one no more just a ps4 pro

You buy neither, you have a high end gaming PC. Buy yourself and Xbox One or PS4 Controller and attach it to your PC and enjoy life.

Sony has not announced anything.

Feels like it should be possible considering that the original xbox one is also getting the 2.1 upgrades, so there's no fancy new tech in the x making it possible.

The only thing the AMD update does on the XB1 is enabled variable refresh rate over HDMI and Freesync support. It won't magically make it support 4K/120Hz, that's a design and hardware change for more power etc.

We need all new video cards and TV's to support HDMI 2.1.

This is going to be the blasphemy that gets me permabanned but...

I own both a PS4 and an Xbone. I'm happy with the graphics on both, and have no intention of buying their big brothers.

On a separate note, I just bought a 4k monitor for my pc, and spent several hours last night playing ut2004 in beautiful 4k glory. It's sad to me that gaming was perfected in 2004, and it's only been downhill from there.

Well I’ve bought the Xbonex but haven’t had time to set it up yet. All in it cost me £200 which I think is a fair price TBH. I get 4K gaming and an ultra HD Blu Ray player to boot so happy chappy.

Will use it mainly for sports games I can’t get on the PC such as Madden and PGA tour golf and I’ll definititaly get a racing game as I’m partial to those as well. I will cancel my Origin access I pay £3.99 pm for and set up a new EA Access account which gives me all the games available in the vault for starters.

I’m also going to look into this play anywhere from MS and see if there are any games I’ve got on the PC will also play on the Xbox as well. First time I’ve ever owned a console so looking forward to it  Let’s hope it’s easy to set up with my TV and components.

Play anywhere is a very nice feature, but you're (mainly) going to have to be purchasing them through the MS store / XBox Live ones to link them to your Windows account. You have to pay attention to the packaging as well as there are games that are in the Play Anywhere program, but for some reason only offer an Xbox 1 code. The games that you want will clearly state Windows 10 and Xbox 1 on their digital download.

some of the 2018 Samsung QLED TVs like hap said will do vrr and freesync with coming update

but i'm waiting on full hdmi 2.1

Yea, I keep thinking I want to get a 65" OLED but it really isn't necessary at the moment as I have a Samsung 65" QLED right now. Need to hold out for probably 2 more years before I pick one up with HDMI 2.1. No sense in buying now.
