I'd like to thank the community for supporting me during this process,
I'd like to thank my family and friends who have been with me during these dark days of gaming with primitive PC equipment.
I'd like to thank the city strippers for being terrible, they have opened my eyes on the lack of entertainment they provide.
And I'd like to thank Higgy and his GF for selecting me as the most peasant of all Rage3d! It is truly an honor and I will cherish this moment for the rest of my life!
Oh and i'd like to thank Kanye West for not interrupting my acceptance speech. Thank you for letting me finish.

Aw, too bad I didn't see this thread until now.
If you do, I'd ask to be considered in the running. My aging 6970 hasn't been doing that well in newer titles and I'm not really in a position to do any upgrades in the near future.

update:
So the packaged arrived a few days ago, I got it installed last night (straight up swap without installing new drivers HAH!) installed the crimson drivers and well I haven't tested anything yet (at this point I only have CoD Ghosts as a litmus test as I know that didn't run to great on my PC on the 5870)
Took some pics as well (will post once I find a place to host....I gotta remember my photobucket account again lol)
Man my PC is a dusty-ass and gross. That's what happens with years of neglect....ill need to clean that up eventually.
5870 and the R9 290...both are huge and the same size. only visible difference aside from cooler design is that the 5870 is 6+6 pin while the 290 is 8+6 pin
Man I forgot how big these things were lol.
Oh and since my 5870 (reference card design as I got it a little after launch) was the last ATI branded radeon before they gone AMD, its got a nice big Ati logo on imprinted on the backplate
