of getting caveman jim back now that KAC is gone (apparently) permanently?

(did not want to mention that second username since imentioning it almost guarantees a thread closure, but it was necessary)


missing a bunch of folks...including acroig :(

Kac's ban will be up soon... so he may or may not be back. As for the other guys they're probably gone for a good awhile after sometime members usually come back if not just to check out the place.
 
It would be great to get Jim back but that is up to him. I have no idea what happened before but I'd like to think either Higgy or myself would stop any harassment long before it got to the leaving stage. At least in the graphics forums. This is one of the very few places people can come for AMD advice and we'd like it to stay that way along. That includes Nvidia advice as well as we have some very knowledgeable members here. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly horrible modding is what is leading to the exodus. I rarely post here anymore for that exact reason. Minus a couple sports threads, I see no reason to post here anymore until there is a major overhaul.

And as a mod I feel nothing great is lost. You've made it perfectly clear how you feel to everyone. I'd like to see more helpful threads or stuff pertaining to actual AMD products or general pc hardware/software vs. one line thread crapping and or the getting real old girlfriend threads. (Some may enjoy them but its not my cup of tea). I like to participate in a lot of the sub forums, which may rub some people the wrong way since I have my own opinions. I'm not going to demand, threaten or hold my breath like a child just because I don't like another member or mod. If the admins feel I'm not doing a good job as a mod they are more than perfectly capable of taking away my status as one. I hold no grudges, even for those that try and get certain mods outed due to perceived slights. That's about all I have to say.

Maybe if some people posted less crap, the mods wouldn't have to get involved. Are they perfect? Of course not, and I agree that in some situations, things could have been handled differently. But at the end of the day, you cannot absolve the guilty party from creating their reputation by their own actions.

And honestly, the fact we have less Omega threads benefits these boards.

A community isn't about one or two people constantly trying to circumvent the rules or pushing hard to get their own way at the expense of others in that community. It is about the community as a whole. "My way or the highway" typically suggests the highway would be a better option if someone can't have an honest discussion.

To the OP. no idea about Jim. I thought he was pretty set on not coming back, but who knows. There's always a chance.

Yep. People need to mod themselves. It's a shame that some people can't seem to manage that.

Everything is a subreddit now. Hell, I'm gonna create a Rage3D subreddit right now.
 
You guys can laugh and joke all you want, but when there aren't enough members to keep the site alive, maybe then you'll realize that I wasn't that far off...

May I ask what you feel it is we are doing horribly wrong?
I'm genuinely curious about that because only with feedback can we change our modding style to fit the needs of the community here.

There was an extensive feedback thread and loads of Q&A not long ago though. Lupine and swingline were fully active in it, and quite frankly, Omega is the only one I can think of currently complaining about you mods.

I honestly think bittermann, Higgy and the others are solid additions and are doing a fine job, especially considering some of the attitudes they put up with. And I'm willing to bet more here would agree with me on that than not. You guys are not the problem here.

I think the mods are doing a great job of deleting reported posts and keeping some of the less mature posters here in check.

I do know that thread yes.
What I'm trying to hint at here is that if there are complaints he has to tell us. We may be able to address those complaints by changing certain things if they are good points. We can't know that if we just get comments like "mods are doing a horrible job" so if there are things you guys feel we could do better please tell us.

I think the mods are doing a great job right now.

I just wish people had thicker skin to deal with KAC's jokes. As long as they are not harmful to people beyond them getting their panties in a bunch and getting all uppity about it, I don't see the issue.

If there is actual harm then sure, I think moderation is required.
