Demon Soul (PS3)

If you want a challenge, start NG+ and get the worlds to pure black.

My goal this playthrough is pure white, grab everything I can and go into NG+ and head for pure black. There's enough of a difference between NG and NG+ pure black to make it completely worth it.

So I'm back in the Tower of Latria, one of my all time favorite levels anywhere. I could write a book on what the souls games have lost since DeS, but:

This level is intricate, with so much content. The fact that a return trip has to be made much later in order to pick up so much loot is nice.

The strain of the decision whether or not to press on hoping to beat the boss and gain the next archstone, or to go cash in your souls so you don't possibly lose them. Granted, this boss is a cakewalk to a veteran, but there's always that chance..

This level continues and loops around on itself like nothing else in the souls universe, and just keeps going, and going, full of surprises.

Killing lautrec doesn't bring half the satisfaction that kicking Yurt's ass does. :p

The Irythill Dungeons and profaned city were nice, but nothing compared to this, not even near the depth.

meh - Don't mind me. I'm in console Heaven right now :p

Haha enjoy  I thought i wouldn't like that level, but I enjoyed it so much. Really well designed.

I think my least favorite level was the swamp, which was suprising for me since i still love blighttown (i only ever played DS1 on PC so no fps drops..).The first time you experience blighttown is so amazing - this feeling of being lost, no idea where the next bonfire is (for some reason i never found the first bonfire at the top so i was always running from the depths bonfire lol) and in constant fear of being hit by toxic arrows or a giant club wielding dude.

In comparison the empty and boring swamp in demon souls was pretty meh.

I do agree :)

There's some high quality loot, but other than that it's just a painful slog. That BP killed me yet again. I thought I picked a good island to fight on so I could roll, but nope. I must have been right on the waters edge so my character did that stupid I'm stuck animation whilst the phantom wrecked me.

What a jerk :D

The bonfire on the bridge? How the hell did you miss that? You literally run right past it.

I think its missable if you do one of the jumps on the right and just keep going downwards instead of back up but I am not sure. I also never found sens fortress top bonfire but that is more understandable I guess

Oh yeah that Sens Fortress bonfire is definitely well hidden and I missed it on my first playthrough. Made that area a real bitch to get through as a newbie!

I missed it too. Someone here told me where to look after I questioned the lack of a bonfire in that place lol.

Also its amazing how missing that bonfire can make Sens sooo much more difficult. Without it losing to the boss puts you way back to the bonfire above Andre.

Its pretty trollish that they decided to hide that bonfire lol.

I made it to the boss with (iirc) 1 estus left and he promptly booted my ass off the bridge

Mind you, this was playing with kb&m and before DSfix was released. I was a little.....stressed

Took me a while to find this thread with the search function because of the misspelled title.

There is apparently a new remaster rumor going around due to the recent announcement of Demon's Souls online servers being shut down. F.Y.I.:

I wouldn't mind seeing it obviously, but shutting servers down>remaster incoming? That's quite a leap of logic. Maintaining servers costs money, and if memory serves, they (Sony) did state last time that the extended up time would be finite.

I would tend to agree that's a more likely explanation, but the only thing that makes it interesting and cause for the rumor is Atlus and Bandai Namco are shutting down their servers on the same day as Sony but they are all independently owned and operated. It just seems like something is possibly being coordinated. Also its well know From has 3 different games in development right now and I don't think any have been officially named to the public.

I don't know, guess we'll find out.

I sure wouldn't complain if it ever happened :)

Might actually get me to finally buy a PS4, maybe.:bleh:

You'll certainly have some good games to look forward to. One of my daughters friends just got a job managing a GS in Brockton, and I can score a 4 pro fairly cheap if I want it. It might have to happen soon :D

Especially as I don't have a 4 any more :p

I'm more likely to buy a Nintendo Switch before a PS4, but a Demon's Souls remaster could sway that.

Might be a while still before it getting released though, and I'm hoping to buy a Switch sometime early 2018.
