Further NVIDIA "optimizations" for 3DMark03?

It's too bad Kyle wouldn't let you run an article about your findings.. :(

Imagine that!

I could about imagine the FALLOUT in the [N]vidia camp if the [$]OCP front page would post an article where the real facts come to light. IMO, the only thing it needs to say is:

nVidia CHEATED and back it up with images, that would be proof positive once and for all and end this BS. But, as we all know [$]OCP will not do this, why not, one can only wonder.

Could you do me a favor please when your running the benchmarks? Would you please go and piss all over Kyle and tell him he's a lying hypocrite?

Pretty please, with sugar on top?

Well, it seems that Brent is cooperatiing to a certain extent with user's curiousity. Kudos, Brent. Let us know of your findings. I wonder what would happen if cheats were implemented in UT2003, Splinter Cell, Q3, etc. Would they be labeled as cheaters then???

Brent is the only unbiased (the only one there not bought and paid for by nVidia) reviewer left at [nV]OCP, he seems to also be the only one there that wants to get to the bottom of this, but his Boss has his hands tied, so there is only so much that he can do, without biting the hand that feeds him.

That would be a sh*tty situation to be in. But, so many jobs have bosses that are just like that. It's all about $$$$$$ and nothing else.

I'll be VERY curious to see how that turns out, and if there are other cheats, (yes NVIDIA, I said cheats), if they get reported on your boss's site...

Ok. They got busted..again. But it's really not a new thing. It's still the same driver set. It's not like they just did this after getting caught with the clip planes and the other "choptimizations."

It was only a matter of time before this was discovered. They couldn't retract the driver set without inviting more scrutiny anyway. They couldn't really release a new "clean" driver set either. Somebody would notice a score drop that couldn't only be explained by the other "choptimizations" being taken out. So naturally someone would wonder what else had been changed or fixed that caused scores to drop. Kyle, though, might have wondered what nvidia did to "break" the drivers.

Is nice to hear that you are going to do some experiment on this. Good job, Brent. You are one of the reason that I still visit [H]ardOcp ;) .

nVidia is going way too far on this. What a shame. and this is not how you win the customers' heart.

Now I want to listen to nVidia's own explanation on this.
I bet they will say this is another little 'bug". LOL~

I bet that they did the same in the DOOM III review. Doing everything in that game in FX 12 instead of FP 16.

And now this on nvnews front page...

"X-bitlabs are now reporting that the Geforce FX 5900 vanilla will now have its core clocked at 400mhz, rather than 425Mhz that was thrown around during nV35's launch. They got the scoop from Albatron's webpage, who have announced a few products online in light of the cancelled Computex-Taiwan."

Did I hear the toilet flush ??? :hmm:

Does the fun ever stop? :)

I had never heard of the value NV35 running at 425 I had always hear 400Mhz for the non ultra part.

with your clocks only 25Mhz apart leaves you no room to differenciate them.

Something like that, I didn't save the exact figures since I'm going to toy around a bit more first.

Great

It's all FutureMark's fault for naming their application '3DMark', it was only done to make nVidia look bad.

FutureMark and nVidia are about to release a joint statement, stating that FutureMark now understand better how nVidia works, and have as a result agreed to change the name of future revisions of their application to 'LawyerMark'.

;)

OMG, LOL !!

1000 3dmark 03 points ?

1000 3dmark 03 points ?

was the anisotropic filtering completely disabeled ?
what im really wondering is just how dx9 compliant is the 5900
series?

if not for the internet would this info have gotten to enough people for anyone to act, i doubt it.

this cheat is beyond/beneath low.

it also points out the need for some new independent benchmarks, (with auto-changing file names):)

lets hope no game's have been filtered.

It wasn't completely disabled no, but it certainly wasn't filtering everything. Beyond3D had some excellent screenshots of 3DMark's anisotropic filtering test running as both 3DMark and 3DMurk to show up exactly what was hapening - I'd post them here, but I can't get to Beyond3D from work.
