Jima13... Holy !@#$%^!!!!!!!!

Kinda forced to do the same thing :( Since I started playing the new Mass Effect game both FAHcontrol and Webcontrol stopped working...not being able to pause/fold when I wanted to play the game made me uninstall fah until I finish the game...only have 1 1070 in service now...

Wow that's weird.

Have you checked the FAH forums to see if anyone else also has that problem and perhaps a solution?

Not yet, I just attached a note to the uninstall. I'll reinstall when I get done with the game.. :)

AMD should release a GPGPU dedicated card. No display outputs that can be slotted into consumer PCs. A $150 Polaris GPU that's fully featured except for a lack of display outputs could be a workable low cost solution. In a crossfire setup it would be a "slave" card though.

As for my F@H.. Still going strong at night. (I have it set to dynamically throttle back up at night to 1.3Ghz on the 780Ti and then throttle back down to 1,050Mhz during the day)

Hopefully once you get the clients back up and running you won't have any additional issues with them. Even with one 1070 folding, your PPD is still awesome.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_FireStream - AMD was ahead of the game

Yea, but not for the price they are asking for. If they can get with the GPGPU devs and come up with a way to lock it into say allowing the GPUs to fold 100% of their ability without being driver capped*.

*-F@H
-BOINC
etc... would get full access to the GPUs DP power instead of limited to just like 1/24th of it or some ****.

I think a problem with GPGPU cards is the market starts to change toward scientific computing, which then creates demand for error correction and other stuff which jacks the price up. For what we need, I've noticed a trend of getting older gen cards used for cheap. I got my 560ti by asking my roommate if he had any spare cards laying around (granted the output is horrible  ), but something more recent would definitely be worth it for a low enough cost. I think of it as giving some old GPU a new purpose :-D

Quick update for y'all; I'll be adding a 1070 to the folding farm within a few weeks, so that should allow me to join the 1MPPD club when added to my current output :-)

Nice!

I haven't used an AMD cpu/mobo combo in a long time, but I picked up an 8300 and mobo to replace an i7-6600. Have 2 1070's sitting idle that should be a nice boost to ppd...
:)

These two additional 1070's in addition to your current output? That'll be incredible PPD!!

Btw, the 6600 you are replacing, is that the system which fried on you last fall?

The 1070 I bought I didn't realize used dual 6-pin and 8-pin pci-e connectors, so now I need to get creative with providing the appropriate connections to the card. I have a single 8-pin pci-e connector on the PSU which I need to buy a cable for, and then I'm thinking I could pillage a couple of sata connectors and connect an adapter to them for the 6-pin pci-e.

With that i5-6600 it was after a win 8 update the mobo no longer saw the cpu. The other cpu that's os is a i5-4690 and that mobo hangs on 19-22 when trying to load...

Ahh yes, I remember now, really strange that a windows update would cause a hardware issue like that (probably the update was coincidental to something else that happened). The other system may still have life, is it hanging past post or during?

During the post process, trying to initialize ...

Hmm, it's a positive sign that you get video. It could be RAM, some controller on the mobo itself, etc. I guess at this point, if you've ruled out all the components which can be removed from the mobo, then a new mobo would be in order. How's the AMD build coming? :D

I got the 1070 up and running. It actually wouldn't fit in the case, so I left the side panel off

No, no video...the mobo diagnostics readout. iirc it's hanging on initializing one of the bridges. That happened after a power spike...:bleh:

Ahh okay, yeah that doesn't sound too good. :(

Hopefully your newly obtained hardware will fare a bit better.

Hopefully it will be done this week. Had a lot of issues with nvidia 383 drivers; guess they had heat issues with my #2 980ti which runs hot...lost a lot of wu's when the driver recovered from a crash so I rolled back to the 372.70...

Hope you get back to full power soon! Right now you, me, and Curio are quite close to each other in PPD :D

Ah darn... hope it finds a new home soon

I recently had some hardware hiccups (my fault) - but I'm back on track again
