NES Mini

I also ordered a 2 pack of controller extensions over the weekend. I thought the controller cables on the SNES Classic were short but man the ones on the NES Classic are comically so to the point of absurdity.

Anyways Nintendo came through again on their promise to have better stock this time. Good on them for noticing and filling demand. I managed to get two of these last year when they were in short supply but they were given to co-workers. This time decided i wanted one and was easily able to get it.

For the console itself I agree, but good luck finding extra controllers (at least the official ones). So annoying.

Yeah there's still a stock problem on the extra controllers apparently.

I'm honestly not looking for one though, since I can just use a controller from the SNES Classic, or a Wii classic controller.

Well I ordered up both the NES and SNES classic. Now I will have all my games back on my HDMI TV.:bleh:

I will either be getting my NES Classic tomorrow or Monday and it looks like even though Gamestop stated they had stock of the SNES Classic it appears not and I will be waiting a week before that ships.

Edit: Just as I say that my SNES classic just shipped.

Box protector for my NES Classic came today. I'm such a nerd.

Yep. And it's as easy as clicking a button with a mouse.

Following up on this, I modified my SNES Classic this weekend to allow for USB port, now I can play just about anything on it. Have a Wii Classic Pro controller on the way for some N64 action.

What OTG cable are you using?, I ordered one from Amazon but have not received it yet.

I'm not sure I'm willing to do this yet, but I see the appeal. I didn't own a SNES as a kid (I had a SEGA Genesis), so I'm really enjoying all the pre-loaded games as-is right now.

All this NES-mini talk, though, did get me to go out and grab one of them as well just to 'complete' my collection. I'm amazed at how short the controller cable is on it though! I think my SNES controllers will work on it, and they are much longer.

What are the risks of hacking? Can you brick these things easily?

I'm thinking on getting a couple of those, I presume they come folded :bleh:

:p

Yes they come folded.

Honestly I think there's very little risk. I have heard a couple stories of people who screwed it up when updating the firmware of the NES Classic to hack it, but it was easily reversed by reapplying the original dumped kernel. As for hacking it, the hack program walks you through all the steps with onscreen prompts and is pretty much idiot proof. Also, no permanent modification is done AFAIK. You can always revert it back to stock through the hackchi2 software if you want to.

I ordered this one, it works great:

I have a new in box SNES Classic still, as well as a new in box NES classic, so I don't mind modifying the SNES Classic I opened up. Modding it is incredibly simple, there's a program that does all the legwork for you. Can PM me for more info, since I it's against the rules to discuss on the board.

Bleh, Gamestop customer service is useless, spent an hour and a half on the phone because email customer service doesn't respond to inquires. Order stated as shipped on the 4th, here it is the 14th and it has never shipped and they have stock. So I called back a second time to cancel. Dam hour to get through to someone to talk to so I could cancel. I will just use my SNES Classic now.
