The more I see about hacking this thing, the lazier Sony looks. They didn't even use their own emulator, or really change the one they used at all.
 
there is apparently a newer spin off of the emulator that people are trying to put on it to replace the existing one.

Hopefully it offers better performance.

Even if not, I've seen mention of a trick to run the PAL games at the proper 60hz. I haven't watched the vids on that yet though, but apparently you can access a ton of options by just plugging a Logitech or Corsair keyboard into the USB port.

The speculation is that they chose the PAL version 'cause the SoC didn't have quite enough horsepower to run those games at 60fps, and choosing the PAL versions meant they could run them at "full speed".

Speculation I saw on some Youtube videos was about localization, the PAL versions being more suitable for all markets or something. It doesn't take a very powerful SOC to run Playstation games.

Even more speculums that excuse was bullshit because a few of the games that are pal dont have multi language options.

Turns out the Amazon firestick 4k has the same gpu

This can emulate PS1 games at a constant 60 fps this is when using a different emulator then what the PSC has.
 
One thing I saw on Modern Vintage Gamer Youtube was that you can use a keyboard to set games to NTSC, and also turn off auto frame skip. Probably would help with some of the choppiness.
