Rage3dD seems as dead as a door nail.

I think the site is now a hollow shell of itself. Graphics forums are not lively. Regular posters are disappearing, and the new forum layout is still cold and unfriendly.

How can we save the site?

I most of regulars are hanging out on the r3d discord. But yes, it's no longer as lively like it once was.

There are no system specs anymore unless I am doing something wrong.
I can't get the same colour scheme I used to and just feels different.

It's like holding someone else's wiener while they take a leak.

I've noticed it being a bit slow too. Partly my fault, just need to post more. Life just takes priority. :(

That and the slowness of the new site is a double whammy. Remember when I and many others left IRC in the 90's for newsgroups as it seemed a richer way to engage in discussions. Seems some want to relive the old IRC experience on discord vs rage and other groups. Personally I find functional sites like reddit more appealing.

Is it really that dead? I don't follow video cards but most every time I check in the video card threads have replies. But yes everywhere else has slowed down noticeably. It's not helping that sometimes the main page makes it seem like there's been nothing new even though Off-Topic actually has a few replies.

I too have noticed this. Since the update went live, I am betting a lot of people found themselves logged out (as I did) and haven't bothered to recover their passwords.

For three years I wasn't able to recover my password and I sent numerous emails and never got a reply. Then one day about 1.5 years ago, I decided to try recovering my password one last time. And it worked.

And this is why you should always write your password down on a sticky note and attach it to your monitor.

People pestered for Rage3D 2.0, now that it's here no joy. Its slow and seems like a sideways move.

Lack of high fidelity graphics pushing games is where I put the rest of the blame; nothing of quality is pushing our high end hardware any more.

It's ironic that all the work that went into the desperately-needed vbulletin upgrade, really just funneled everyone to the discord. I never spent much time on the discord until the upgrade outages, and now I spend 80% of my Rage3d time there.

I suppose it doesn't really matter where the community lives. Between the website, discord, reddit, facebook, there should always be a place for us to congregate and talk about which female politicians are hot enough to pork.

It probably would have been much better if this version wasn't so drastically different than the previous one. People who have been here for umpteen years got so used to the previous version that this new one was quite the shock. The look is different, the layout is different, it's missing functionality. And like you said it's slow too. There's probably a lot of improvements on the backend, but the user-facing side isn't really much of an upgrade at all.

acroig is on often on the discord, he's fine and encouraging everyone on there to join the 4090 master race.
