RTX 3090 Reviews

The 27" 4K 144Hz+ is already down to $799 with the 2020 models. That was a $1200+ halo product in 2019. I'm in no rush to go to 4K and then struggle for framerate

I'd be in no rush to go 4k on a 27" monitor. I'd need my binoculars for that extra detail.

That's true only from a pure gamer perspective.

If you are the type of person who used a TITAN for productivity purposes, the 3090 is actually an improved value in that class segment over the RTX TITAN.

Except it's not according to the Linus review. It's missing key features from the Titan cards that are locked out.

Exposed and I were saying the same, we're really not in a hurry. I'm settled in what card I'll be getting (x-mas maybe?) so unless an opportunity comes at Best Buy I'll wait.

I'll keep an eye out for the ASUS TUF/STRIX or the EVGA FTW3 Ultra. Only cards I will touch. I am mostly looking on EVGA's website, hoping that they put the FTW3 Ultra behind the ELITE membership wall. I'd be able to snag one in that case.

That's what would make it so fantastic. Extremely tight pixels due to the smaller size on a high resolution. It'd be super crisp! I also sit fairly close to my monitor because I'm a blind bastard .. That's why I don't want these massive 38"+ monitors that are really small TVs. :bleh:

Was curious about 8k and 5k with the RTX 3090 and computerbase did touch on this.

Yeah, it was proven to be a marketing scam by NV. Complete and utter nonsense.

What I see fears me based on the 8k numbers. Nvidia may achieve 60 Fps gaming at 8k gaming in two generations. Nvidia may have to innovate a lot on gaming experiences to motivate gamers to upgrade with a discrete gpu.

How fast you see 8K becoming a standard gaming and TV resolution in the USA?

nV is pushing RT for a reason, no?

until you can buy a top end 55 to 65 inch 8k screen with all the bells and whistles like g-sync for 2000 or less it won't go anywhere for PC gaming .
and get 60+ FPS in most all games without DLSS like cheats

Is it enough of an experience to garner growth in the discrete GPU business moving forward? Look where Nvidia is investing heavily for growth potential for the future. Where at the point where 1080p and 1440p are getting CPU limited in many cases. You can see why Nvidia heavily invested in Cuda, Data Center, professional, Ai, and companies like Mellanox and Arm.

But what do you think of the 3XXX series so far?

4k isn't even what i would call mainstream yet

As GN stated, the 8K marketing that NV is pushing is extremely deceptive, and the channels that pushed that **** as NV shills (Linus who has always been a joke to any real enthusiast, and that mkb dude who I'd never even heard of before?) should be blacklisted by the community. They took that NV money and said "OK! We'll lie for you!"

Tech Jesus Rules , and yes Linus and Marques are shills, most people know that. Loved how Steve didn't have nvidia cherry pick games for him, he would never take the money if they tried that too. That's why its even funnier.

nV needs to wait until Samsung's 8N node gets better and it will. The refresh in 9 months time will hopefully give a better performing Ampere.

Don't hold your breath, 8nm node will not improve like you think, they will have to wait for 7nm euv from samsung to be any good. Samsung has one of the worst yields in the industry.

If this is the case then nV has done as much as they will with Ampere.

I like the performance/dollar value for an enthusiast class Rtx 3080 sku and like the design of the Fe coolers. I am nervous about the wattage, fear that Nvidia may of been aggressive here to get performance instead of more conservative like the past. Curious to watch overall stability and Oc head room.

I feel that this series will motivate the countless Pascal and Maxwell owners to upgrade.

That is my thinking overall, about two generations from now. 4k may be much more mainstream and a $250 GPU may handle it, what would be the motivation to upgrade? Hence, why the innovation focus may be creating new gaming experiences and features to keep the discrete GPU relevant. Is Raytracing enough?

They should have a good ramp going but yields are holding it back. I really want a FE but I think they will be out of stock for a while, as AIBs will make nvidia more money then the FE (cooler is rumored to cost $150 just for 3080!). Let's hope a refresh comes with 7nm euv and more optimised core design. This 20% more fp32/bandwidth of the 3090 and getting ~10% performance doesn't bode well with me....

well i 5 years when my warranty is up on my 55" LG CX i will look at 8k
but then i went 4k 6 years ago and 1600p in 2007

but without SLI/CFX these high resolutions are much harder

maybe we will see next year with Navi 3x and Hopper being MCM if they will soup up the resolution race again

3090 was in stock last night, by the time I entered my credit card details, sold out.. phew, pretty happy it didn't go through, $3k AUD..

Think I'll wait this one out, see what AMD offers, perhaps get something by xmas.

The Jayztwocents review was helpful for me. It looks like the 3090 can beat the Titan RTX by 2x in some of the blender tests and I figure I will get similar results with DAZ. Now I just gotta get my hands on a card. Game performance isn't good enough to really make the card worth while from a purly gaming standpoint. I think Nvidia should push the Titan series a little harder if they are going to market them as gaming cards. As it stands, it looks like a bunch of gamers are buying these cards for the bragging rights. I can't imagine the Titan series selling out in seconds to artists and animators but who knows.
