Skyrim Mods Thread

Anyone experiencing FPS drops ( Hovering around 15 to 25) between Riverwood and the stones you first encounter in the game?

I removed 2k HD textures, WATER, SFO,lush trees and grass with no avail.

I don't know if it's the CPU limitation with this damn engine but I'm sure my frames were higher at one stage.

Using ENBoost too.

Immersive armors is the biggest one I can think of. A few small mods perhaps too.

Edit: there's frostfall too but I'm not sure this is script lag. My fps tanks in certain locations, not weather related.

That particular spot, as you run past embershard mine entrance is a notorious crash zone. I don't know why but for some reason as you move between the cells that meet there it's always dodgy.
I think maybe it's just a highly populated cell. There are a number of spawn points there that spring into life as you cross that boundary, including spawns that fight each other, wolfs v rabbits, the duelling mages, vigilant v flame atronach etc on the opposite side of the river.
The duelling mages spawn is a real performance killer.

This is true. In particular, when you encounter the 2 or 3 wolves. I had crashes here every single time I fought them, couldn't get to Riverwood on my last install but with this new install it appears fine.

The FPS drop I encounter isn't due to cell loading but rather heading towards the stones. If I head the other way its fine

I know the game engine sucks monkey balls, it'll most likely be utilising 60% of my GPUs as only one CPU core does the work.

Can you post your load order? Are you using any mods that add lots of wildlife?

A few:

Immersive creatures
Birds of Skyrim
More village animals

and a couple of others I can't think of.

Can post load order, will have to be some time though.

It's hard to say without looking at your load order. Reason I asked about wildlife is just because of the cells you're going in to. One tip I would give with immersive creatures is to turn off additional spawns except, if you choose, ore guardians and spider eggs. Those one wolf/slaughterfish spawns are being turned into 5 creature spawns. Turn off Goblin faction war as that's a resource/crash fest and faction patrols for same reason. Add them all up and it's a huge resource hog. Birds of Skyrim is a bit crashy too tbh. I'm not familiar with more village animals. The only settlement east of Riverwood before Falkreath is the mill on the lake shore and iirc there are only chickens there so I doubt that's the cause.
Do you use sands of time? immersive patrols? any mods that add patrols or additional spawns?

Well here is the load order as promised.

How did you sort your load order? Have you used LOOT to sort it? It doesn't look right at all. Are you using Mod Organiser or the Nexus Mod Manager?

There's no bashed patch which you need as a number of those mods alter level lists and will need a patch.
You have a lot of script heavy mods going, honestly mate getting all those mods to run together is never going to be smooth.

I don't recognise some of the mods in your list, but you need to download LOOT first and use it to sort your load order, then use wrye bash to make a bashed patch.
Pay attention to what errors/warnings LOOT gives you. I'm sure there are a lot of mods in your load order that conflict with each other.
You have RCRN which will conflict with Sounds of Skyrim as it is a weather affecting mod. You have a lot of mods that add spawns. Footprints can bring your system to a crawl.

Using BOSS and it works a treat. Haven't tried LOOT or MO.

I left WYRE bashed patch out as I'm just testing the game out, performance and CTD wise but I suppose it may hinder my tests.

Some mods do conflict but their current load order is expected.

RCRN and SOS work fine together as they are patched.

SoS - The Wilds-PatchRCRN.esp

I'm not progressing in game until a few tweaks are in place and the game is running fine so I'm happy to restart on a fresh save as I'm still adding/removing mods.

The BOSS masterlist is over a year out of date, they stopped working on it. It has been superceded by LOOT so you'd be better using that instead. It also gives better feedback than BOSS did and will point out some conflicts/errors etc. Might help you figure out what the problem is.

Every time I see SoS mentioned here I'm thinking "Ahh good ol' rage, primary mod to get stable before anything else is Schlongs of Skyrim"

Enb wrapper greater than .236 was breaking my game upon start up but I managed to get the lastest version working by comparing the enblocal.ini with the working ini of .236 and amending the settings.

Performance boost between the two was noticeable.

I think I'm done modifying this game now. Time to get into it.
