Need for Speed Heat

It is hard to get excited for yet another need for speed developed by ghost games, their track record isn't great.

I miss the old NFS games when you could dive head to head with one player as the cop. fun stuff ^_^

Still have a soft spot for this series though.

I don't get why it's so hard to make a decent racer. Just copy NFS Most wanted and upgrade the visuals.

loving the reuse of underground 2 assets in this so far. I do wonder if it's intentional, or they simply thought no one would notice.

There's never quite been a game like NFS: Underground to me. That game made you feel like a badass... also... TO THE WINDOOOOOOOOOOOW, TO THE WAAAALL!!!:bleh:

the best. when the tuner/ricer scene was insane because of fast&furious

Not a chance, Underground 2 was the best, Most Wanted had some great additions, but it made the racing too arcadey. It was already a decent amount of arcadey. Of course, none of that matters as the new game will be the same as the last few, with those god awful cant fail racing mechanics.

Anyone else notice the gameplay footage running at about 15 FPS? Poor consoles :(

I never liked Underground. Most Wanted 2005 was clearly the superior NFS game. Porche Unleashed was the best NFS game in that it didn't play like a NFS game.

Payback had many good elements but was ruined by the slot-machine loot-crate upgrade system. I'll take a risk on Heat when it goes on sale.

I've been wanting a modern NFSMW 2005 style game since 2006. I don't think Heat will be that, but I think it will be the closest thing we will see to it until at least the next NFS game.

Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit will always remain the best NFS game for me.

NFS: Underground 2 actually comes in a close 2nd.

I find it strange how everyone swears by Underground. For me it was the beginning of the fall because of the airboat-ey handling it introduced.

Absolute gem of a franchise before then:
NFS2:SE
NFS4
NFS5
NFS:HP2 (that soundtrack)

NFS3 was forgettable since NFS4 had better handling and included all the content from NFS3.

EA started pumping out so many different NFS's that I lost track what each one was about after the Underground series. :hmm: I did play one of the Underground games a lot. I don't recall if it was the first or second one.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2 (2010) is the king.

Underground was amazing when it released, hasn't aged as well though, Underground 2 held up better, but...I liked the drifting in Underground 1 better (arcadey as could be, but so much fun!)

People loved Underground 2 because of the level of customizations, open world gameplay (first for Need for Speed), and the fact it pretty much hit the tuning world right on the head.

NFS4 had all the tracks from NFS3 but that doesn't make it a better game. I played NSF4 when it first came out and the new tracks just didn't have the same feel, flow or quality as the NFS 3 tracks. And you didn't get the NFS 3 tracks right away, you had to unlock them by playing through the newer crappy tracks. In essence, it took NFS3 to save NFS4.

NFS3 is the better stand alone game, to me anyways.
