Shorter run today, but set a new PB for 3 miles. Google lost some of the run, this is a 3.1mi route, so corrected for that I did 3 miles in 26:12.

Haven't run since Thursday thanks to hurting my ankle Friday and my knee Sunday. Decided to go for 4 miles and not worry about the time. Still, feel pretty good about that time, it was a tough run.

Decided to go for 5 miles today, turned around at exactly 2.5mi but somehow only clocked in at 4.94mi by the end of it. Either way, was a good run. I did have to stop in the middle to use a public restroom, but otherwise ran the best 4 mile time so far, I believe:

The last mile my watch kept telling me my pulse was above 180, but my breathing was fine so I just kept pushing.

Also came across some lady who was letter her dogs play in the yard, they decided to run after me, but they were both real sweet, just slowed down for a moment so they wouldn't run too far so the lady could wrangle them.

I've noticed this too. Running apps are useful, but the GPS is more of an approximation. Usually accurate within +-0.05 miles.

Only way to track progress really accurately is to pay attention to your time between set landmarks. The stopwatch should be accurate, even if the GPS is not.

So ive been super lazy this past little while, no motivation for working out.

Took the doggo for a walk, got to a point where i would allow her to run home and i try to keep up behind her while she's leashed....
A few mins of full on (as much as possible anyways) run with a few walk breaks in between.....

I wake up today and my legs are sore.....

My god im out of shape lol.

Working on building speed in the small bowl this week. I'm getting it, slowly but surely.

I'm starting to have a hard time recovering from my longer runs. My left calf winds up hurting quite a bit, and I have to take more days off than I want. I want to be able to run every other day, but when I run 4-5 miles I wind up having to take 2-4 days off. I'm stretching and foam rolling my calves regularly, but it's not enough. I also do a lot of stretching before I run. Anyone have any suggestions?

edit: Part of it may be my shoes, I've worn them out... Going to be looking for new shoes tonight...

Bought a new pair of shoes yesterday, my expensive Nike running shoes only lasted 5 months. This shoe had the most similarly shaped sole, and really does feel pretty nice. It's also half the cost. Broke them in this morning on a 2.5ish mile run, kept a good pace and felt pretty good about everything. No soreness in my left calf is the most important thing, I think my Nikes were just way past their prime.

Back in the swing of things finally after a bad few weeks of personal stuff. Begrudgingly lost 10lbs.

Recovery from the 5 mile run yesterday is actually going pretty well this time, I stretched my calves a few times yesterday, did some heating pad, and foam rolled. Today there's a little bit of soreness but nowhere near what I had before.
